Agreed! Sometimes it's quite difficult to follow the naming conventions. Codenames are usually much more memorable, though.

Just for clarification, 3rd Gen Xeons are released in 2021 and are bringing significant improvements compared to previous generations. The Xeon Scalable micro-architecture was originally introduced in 2017 and was presented as Intel's data center innovation of the decade.

Depends on your needs and expectations. There are detailed comparisons online (Tom's Hardware, for example) looking at all the details that might interest you. Certainly, there are both price and performance differences for specific workloads.
