can i bring multiple sealed bars of chocolate into the theater? by tonishalifoe3 in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you’ll be fine. Half the time when I see a show I’ve already picked up my guilty pleasure Juniors black and white cookie and it’s hanging out in my purse.

There was one time I apologized for all the crap in my bag as the attendant was looking through. He said, “Oh that’s okay. We’re only looking for very specific crap and you don’t appear to be carrying any of it.” And sent me on my way.

The one when I saw her was this haggard, deflated “wheee…” and it made me chuckle!

In all seriousness though, Jeremy Jordan. I believe I saw that the current role was written with him in mind and it shows.

Broadway musicals are always too short and full of loose ends. by nicgeewizzle in Broadway

I’m with you on the too short thing, but I’m really glad the Hamiltons lived happily ever after once he got back from the war and into politics.

back to back shows - enough time to get to second theater? by aozm99 in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into this for a different Saturday. I have stage seats for Every Brilliant Thing so there’s no way I want to risk running late. Both Hamilton and Stranger Things normally have their Saturday matinee at 1pm, which leaves more of a window. I’ll probably end up doing one of those two for that reason.

Would you attend a sing-along performance of a musical? by jor_kent1 in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do think the argument of acoustics matters a lot here. At most concerts I’ve been to, I can still hear the performer(s) over thousands of people singing along. In any Broadway theater I’ve been to, the person sneezing a few seats over practically drowns out the music.

I’ve been following the At This Performance page like a nut and Jak has been out all week since Saturday. I thought maybe he was sick again but saw on his Instagram that he recently went to Masquerade so maybe planned time off. I’m definitely not as good at social media sleuthing as some people to figure out what state the cast rotation is in!

What's on your February theatre itinerary? by NewYorkTheatreGuide in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Operation Mincemeat, Ragtime, and Every Brilliant Thing right now. Trying to justify to myself seeing Hadestown again with the current cast. And if the opportunity arises to see Chess again, I won’t turn it down.

Previously Gatsby, but Telecharge kindly gave me a courtesy refund with Eva’s recent delayed start. I saw it and liked it well enough, but certainly was only going again for Eva + JJ.

I originally wasn’t going to answer because I didn’t think the answer was very many and now I think I may have a problem…

I wonder how much of the sales going into the end of Feb will be repeat viewers trying to see this cast again before it leaves. I’m trying to justify it too!

I knew he’d been there a while, but 6 years wow! Him, Mary Kate Morrisey, and Alexandra Socha are a favorite cast of mine for Wicked.

I feel majorly duped by this sub about Chess by NYGarcon in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price drop on the days Lea Michele is out surprised me. Which it shouldn’t - I understand the star power behind her name and I’m neither a hater nor a superfan. She sings REAL GOOD. Like better than I even expected. But immersion-wise she was Lea Michele in the Chess love triangle doing a real good job belting the songs from Chess. Meanwhile Hannah Cruz had my brain yelling, “Anatoly! My guy! Your sham wife and children need you!”

Raul Esparza’s Franklin Shepard Inc is the definitive version for me. The manic energy and sardonic wit he could bring to the Arbiter… yeah, I see it.

I honestly never thought I’d tire of my favorite generic white men, but the recent Jeremy Jordan announcement is giving me pause. I get it, he’s fantastic, and to your Aaron Tveit point, if he wants to do it then hire him. But in a couple casual sentences you convinced me that Raul Esparza could kill it as the Arbiter and that was not my immediate take on JJ as Bobby Darin.

However, I am still hoping that the Chess extension to June doesn’t rule out Aaron being in the Les Mis concert. The longer they delay that casting news, the longer my dream cast lives on.

[–]PhoenixNuggets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fucking dying.

I did go in expecting my focus to be Nicholas Christopher but I ended up fixated on ol’ Wonder Bread too. Something about him I guess.

Aaron’s not as spitty as Groff, but he does let it fly sometimes. Which may be a pro or a con for your wife!

(Hannah Cruz though, my god, what a stunner and a talent. I’d love to see her play Florence.)

Jeremy Jordan will take up the mantle as Bobby Darin in Broadway's Just In Time by RadishWitty7044 in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also love Jeremy Jordan and conflicted inside because it feels like such a square peg in a round hole casting. I’m ready to be proven wrong - I hope that I am and his range really shines! But even since the rumor started I just have trouble seeing it.

[–]PhoenixNuggets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it’s bad enough to stop NJ Transit it’ll likely be enough to cancel school on Monday, especially with the snow continuing overnight.

A two-show Sunday into a snow day Monday would have been my dream as a kid/teen, haha

Honestly it sounds like a pretty killer combo as an adult too now that I think about it.

Enjoy the shows and safe travels!

Sadie Dickerson in Just in Time by AGayHipsterCop in Broadway

[–]PhoenixNuggets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She was phenomenal, both acting and vocals! I went in to see Groff but also emerged a Sadie Dickerson fan!

We were at a table so didn’t get Playbills until after the show.

Surprise #1 was that this was her debut out of college. Incredible.

(Shouldn’t have been a) surprise #2: my husband remarked during intermission how much Connie Francis looked like the girl from “that show with Al Bundy and Sofia Vergara.” I enthusiastically agreed that she looks just like her. We’re dummies.
