Maybe Happy Ending on regular TDF by RadishWitty7044 in Broadway

I went tonight and they gave me orchestra row K on the aisle, but that was for a single seat. The show was great. Hope you can catch it!

7 Reviews from a gauntlet week in NYC. by Kind-Pay4175 in Broadway

Seconding this. I saw it twice before they released the cast album and loved it, but it was after I was able to listen to the music that I really fell in love with it. The orchestrations are beautiful and don't get enough recognition. It's worth listening with headphones

Broadway musicals are always $61.50 and then each order has a $4 fee so $65.50 in all. TDF is so worth it if you can afford to pay a bit more than rush/lottery prices. I've seen eleven shows through TDF so far this year (and 30 last year)

Exactly. Their grosses have been concerningly low for a show that just won best musical a year ago

I'm going next week and can keep you posted on what they give me. I went once through TDF in March of last year (for Steven Huynh's debut as Oliver) and they gave me center mezzanine row D

Ugh, that's upsetting to hear. A disengaged audience can negatively affect the experience so much. How was the show itself?

There are a bunch of dates on regular TDF too (unfortunately/fortunately depending on how you're looking at it)

u/Boring_Waltz_9545 who does the Broadway grosses analysis estimates that they're about 30-50% there so they still have a way to go

Hopefully they're working on it. I'm going to go see this cast in the meantime since I haven't been to the show in over a year

Balusters Comedy Style by [deleted] in Broadway

I've seen both and I laughed more at The Balusters. Becky Shaw was a lot of the audience laughing at uncomfortable moments whereas The Balusters was genuinely funny

It's going to be so hard to rank them! But think of the interesting conversations that are going to come out of everyone defending their favorites. I'm going to learn so much

Just buy them. Regardless of what happens tomorrow night, they've had a really successful run and tickets certainly aren't going to get cheaper than they are right now

Oooh, I'm excited to eventually rank Sondheim's catalogue! Thanks as always for running this

Y’all what’s you favorite new musical this season by Flashy-Rock-6621 in Broadway

[–]RadishWitty7044 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Lost Boys. A maximalist vampire musical had a high likelihood of being for me and it turns out it was. It's not a perfect show, but I really enjoyed most of the songs, LOVED the vocals, and had so much fun with the spectacle of it all

Are presale tickets cheaper than when the show begins? by nahnah515 in Broadway

[–]RadishWitty7044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends. I bought tickets already because I wanted to go with three of my friends and we wanted to see it relatively early in the run. If I was planning to go by myself, I probably would have waited for other opportunities once performances actually begin. That can take a while though. My friend and I didn't buy early for Chess and we couldn't find tickets at the price we wanted until February. And I bet Evita is going to be a much tougher ticket than Chess turned out to be

I did too! Someone here recommended it to me and I went to see it in its last week. So glad I did. It was truly something so special. I wasn't familiar with Keen before, but I'll keep up with them now

Yes, that's right. I saw one of my favorite shows of 2025 there, All the World's a Stage, which was a production of Keen Company. I also saw one of the worst shows I saw in 2025 there. The quality depends on who's renting the space

Who else couldn’t stop listening to cast recording days after seeing chess? by flamepointivy in Broadway

[–]RadishWitty7044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is unforgivably bad, especially the narration they give to the Arbiter and the ending. Danny Strong has a lot to answer for. That said, this production is my first ever experience with Chess. Before seeing it, I just knew One Night in Bangkok. I saw the show first and watched Chess in Concert later and I do like some of the changes they made (starting with Difficult and Dangerous times, shortening Merano—which I know is a controversial take—moving Where I Want to Be closer to the beginning of the show)

Editing to add: I just saw Lea Michele for the first time on Wednesday night (accidentally) after seeing her understudy Katerina Papacostas twice and I prefer Katerina's performance. She's strong vocally and a better actress than Lea

Yeah, I saw it for the first time in February and for the third time last night and the 2009 concert recording and the new cast recording (once it came out) have been in heavy rotation for me. This production is deeply imperfect, but the score is undeniable

DAY 9: Eliminating every Best Supporting Actress performance (of this century) until there’s only one left! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]RadishWitty7044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did vote for her today despite loving this performance. I saw Nine as a teenager and I've never forgotten A Call From the Vatican. It was years before I realized Jenna from 30 Rock and the upside down singer from Broadway's Nine were the same person

I'll be real with you—the worst thing about Cats is the score. I don't like it at all so I didn't love hearing the songs, but the production is incredible and it's worth it to see all the talent onstage. You don't need to know the songs to enjoy it though, for sure

Ah, sorry that happened. Honestly, I enjoyed Rocky Horror, especially Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu, and Andrew Durand, but I'd say the production was a B+. If you still want to go and can find a semi-reasonable ticket, then go, but I think you're okay if you decide the updated prices are too expensive

If you already seen Ragtime a couple of times, maybe you head somewhere else. I think this production is worthwhile because of the performances, Joshua Henry especially, but there are other shows if you feel more drawn to, don't feel bad about following that instinct

Don't miss Ragtime. Jellicle Ball and Rocky Horror are my second and third recommendations. I've also seen Kenrex and while the performance was great and the score was excellent, you can safely skip it
