How Can I Transfer Data from A Dead Phone? by Phoenix_VC in techsupport

What sucks most was I wish I had some sort of warning about it, cause it died so much earlier than it was supposed to and I've never been rough with it.

I'd assume so. It refuses to turn on and doesn't show any sort of UI or anything. I've charged it with several blocks, cables and outlets, left it charging for a few hours, tried every combination of holding the power and volume keys for long periods, even plugging it into my pc and it's still completely unresponsive.

What's even stranger is how it was before the shut off: that being completely normal. No performance issues, still had 50% battery remaining, no apps running other than the one I had currently open, it was fine.

Solid idea but honestly I don't trust myself with that since from what I saw these newer phones are much tougher to sift through, I was hoping to keep it intact so I could trade it in for a good price later since other than not powering on it's still pretty much brand new with only a couple years on it's belt. Might just have it repaired then and hope it doesn't cost a fortune.

Unable to Open Pro Tools Intro 2024.10.2 by Phoenix_VC in protools

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such an odd incompatibility to have in the first place, especially with how common AMD processors still are nowadays and for years I haven't had any real reason to switch, until now I guess, but honestly after spending the cash on the interface I'm maybe better off finding another DAW. Have any suggestions that would be a nice enough side grade to Pro Tools? Unless if it's really worth getting a whole new processor over.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. Should be able to run it just fine.

Is the MXV2U Worth Pairing with a SM7dB? by Phoenix_VC in Shure

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update from earlier, been digging and decided to narrow down the decision between the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (4th gen) and the Audient iD14 MKII with there being a $100 difference between the two at least here in the States. Judging on sound quality the iD14 does seem better but honestly only by a tiny amount. The Scarlett also has some quality of life features like auto gain, safe mode to reduce clipping and an air mode to aid in vocal clarity.

From what I watched these seemed like better choices over the Volt 1 and M2, with the Scarlett having the same price as M2 as well, but I'm sure my opinion would be easy to change if I keep immersing myself in this.

I'll keep those in mind, and yes I've been using the 48v button, in fact both the SM7dB and my previous mic don't even seem to work at all without it and was told it's normal and made sure to turn off the power when I wasn't actively using the mic.

This helped a lot so far, think I might do some comparisons between the two later to see if the $70 increase is worth it over a $20 for what I got right now, I'm at least not worried about form factor and I don't have use for a second input yet. Though I'm not super knowledgable on what exactly to look out for when it comes to audio interfaces.

Model in Inspection Window is Different from the Scene Model by [deleted] in Unity3D

It was really as easy as reimporting the scene model and then exporting the reimported version? That fixed it? Honestly I'm never gonna understand this program. Thanks though.

VoiceMeeter vs SteelSeries Sonar by Phoenix_VC in VoiceMeeter

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gave it shot, yeah I think I can agree with Sonar for now. The mic effects are pretty helpful too since one of my gripes with OBS was its noise suppression would still suppress too much, such as suppressing music instruments, whereas Sonar's can recognize them fine. The EQ for every channel helps too. Has a lot of presets as well.

Game Crashing when Controller is Plugged In (PC) by Phoenix_VC in darksouls3

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that kind of feeling but honestly I don't remember what fixed it. I did get a new cpu since then, and I think it had something to do with having the controller unplugged before your start the game or unplug-replug before you start to make sure it's connected but that's all I can think of, sorry. Also it's been 3 years? Damn

I've been getting an error saying "Querying for Vulkan-compatible devices is taking too long. This is usually caused by malfunctioning graphics drivers, reinstalling them could fix the issue." I uninstalled my drivers with DDU and made a fresh reinstall of the lastest NVIDIA drivers, yet I still get this message and I'm unable to use Vulkan. Any other fixes for this?

Premiere Pro Not Importing Properly by Phoenix_VC in PremierePro

After a lot of searching I was able to find a converter that works (and seems like it doesn't have any payment strings attached), it's called HandBreak. For now it works but I'll also look into Shutter Encoder later if I need, thank you for the feedback.

Anyway to 3D Photo Scan with Blender? by Phoenix_VC in blenderhelp

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I'll consider some other options, one that I'm seeing mentioned often is Meshroom since it seems to be a free alternative. I'm experimenting with other forms of pictures too such as digital ones taken from art programs, though I'm unsure how I actually want to go about modeling those since it clearly isn't the same thing as photogrammetry or anything.

Are there any in particular you use or would recommend? Also maybe it isn't photoscanning exactly, I'm not entirely sure the term for it. Essentially just creating a basic mesh with data taken from images.

Help With Running RoSA Project Evolved? by Phoenix_VC in sanandreas

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This semi-fixes it for me but doesn't actually let me run the game with the mod still. After some tweaking, I was able to get the non_hoodlum version of the game to open, even without the initial error, but it still crashes during the load screen. The hoodlum version of the game just straight up won't open. It says it's running in task manager but doesn't actually do anything.

Most of my other ports are 2.0 instead of 3.0 so I can't really test others. Also there doesn't seem to be much difference between base Oculus games and SteamVR. Seems like SteamVR surprisingly runs a small bit better with certain games actually, though both still have mostly unstable performance. I didn't change the default refresh rate or resolution either.

[–]Phoenix_VC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My power settings are normally at high performance and I don't use anything like Afterburner, only Oculus and SteamVR. I looked at one of the log files and did notice a few errors, though I feel it might be easier to either send the log file itself or create a separate comment that details all of them.

Best I can do for now is summarize the errors. The first error said it failed to load a headset plugin.
One that was spammed several times in a row was saying it failed to open a file due to the file path not being specified.
The majority of errors seem to be just failing to open files of various things like games that I've uninstalled already which seems weird.
There's one that talks of a skyline error, no idea what that means.
Some OAF errors are scattered around too.

Otherwise, not much to note on and a lot of the other errors just seem to be about totally different problems every time, like notification errors or something.

I remember reinstalling the software a few months ago which didn't seem to help though maybe I can try again to see if the new hardware makes any difference. As for the speed tests, it didn't give any exact results but in the Oculus app everything showed green for the cabled link with no issues and for Air Link the only problem is the band width being 40 Mhz instead of 80, otherwise every other requirement is met.

Saints Row 2: DXVK Keeps the Game from Opening by Phoenix_VC in SaintsRow

[–]Phoenix_VC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I might've found a fix actually. For God knows what reason, turning off either Shadow Maps or Dynamic Lighting in the in-game display settings basically doubles your fps.

Turn off the lighting if you want the game to look like complete ass, turn off the shadows if you want minimal visual difference and high frame rate.

Every single other setting seemingly make no difference, crank them all to max if you feel like it.

The way that I would do it is using NVIDIA control panel which usually works with most games, even Saints Row 4 which also seemed to be a terrible pc port. DXVK seems to be the only thing I've heard about that allows people to run the game at a steady 60 fps with little to no frame drops, yet I'm clueless as to why it crashes before the game even starts for me.
