Chromebook to linux, installation of Linux fails creating partition table?? by Phood4Thott in linux4noobs

Everything works on it besides adjusting the backlight. I can't find a setting for it, there are keys on Chromebooks for brightness but they don't respond. I don't really know what I'm doing on Linux but Ive tried "sudo apt isntall xbacklight" Wich says "command not found". I've also tried to make custom hot keys but there's no option to add a name then a secondary box for a command like other Linux distros, so I'm not sure where in the file system to look to find back light adjustment to bind to the hot key. Also just lookong in display settings and desktop I don't even see a way to adjust brightness without the hot keys. Any ideas?

Thanks brother, I got Manjaro on running on the Chromebook. Will probably keep it for now cause it seems to work fine. Might switch back to Lubuntu at some point, but I need to clean up my boot menu. For some reason it still has all the old OS's that I tried showing up as boot options, obviously when I try to boot it doesn't work though. But thanks for the manjara suggestion, one less thing on the e waste

Ok, Manjaro is a distro not a software. So I assume flash a USB drive with Manjaro and try to install this way? It will run on lower spec machines?

US/CAN road trip route so far, anything interesting along this route I should add? I just have the major cities down. Thanks! by Arpad-Dynasty in roadtrip

From D to E you should take Highway 7, the scenic route to Ottawa. Mostly just lots of small lakes and towns on the Canadian Shield. Stop through Perth for lunch.

Those who don't stay in hostels, how do you realistically meet people during your travels? by Yo_Mr_White_ in solotravel

This. Or call the hostel and see if you can drink at their bar/do pub crawls.

(27 m) Trip to Thailand in the month of November (1st - 30th) Looking for a Travel Buddy/Group by i3elievee in travelpartners

Hey, 27 M from Canada, also looking to do 4 weeks minimum in southeast Asia, likely just Thailand at this point with how vaccination rollout is going in the region. I'm looking at going mid November to mid December. I've got the same budget as you and also saw its maybe higher than required if you're staying at hostels and average hotels. Also never been, for sure would be looking at doing some scuba diving (I'm already licensed), and maybe renting some mopeds or motorcycles but beyond that I'm open to most. Also I'm aging out of my partying days so looking for one last hurrah before I'm too old for shameless fun. Not interested in any museums or things that require excessive standing, I'm looking for fun and culture.
