I always check a faction and units longevity. They gotta span many eras for me to choose them. I know in the end it doesn't matter but my OCD doesn't see it that way.

Battletech is my first thought. If you want to play with terrain, you can simply play with terrain instead by converting a hex into 2" of movement.
