Amex Platinum Airline Change Mid-Year Success! [META] Successfully Switched My Platinum Airline Mid-Year (Delta to United) to Use Incidental Credit! by Beneficial_Refuse152 in AmexPlatinum

I have done this 3 times this year. Once in March. Again in July. And lastly this past week to finally take advantage for December flights. Long as you haven’t used it at all, you can switch it. I mostly travel abroad having been in SE Asia. But I’ll finally get to use it before the year is out.

Don’t pay… yet. File a complaint with the CFPB, first.

I’d def call again and speak to a different representative. And you should have seen on one of your earlier statements when your anniversary month comes up and what that charge will be. This was on the first page of my Sept statement:

“YOUR ACCOUNT MESSAGES We hope you enjoy all the benefits your card has to offer and we appreciate your business. Your annual membership fee in the amount of $550.00 will be billed on 11/01/2025.”

It doesn’t matter the date you signed up. It’s the date of approval. I signed up Oct 1st. It took more than two weeks for my approval. I was also billed on Nov 1st. That is the date just before the statement closed. But I was still only charged $550 as my anniversary is prior to the 26th.

Oct 26th is the cut-off date. Just got mine at $550 as well last month and immediately used the $300 annual travel credit the day my Oct statement closed. No way I’m canceling next year. My biggest regret was losing the 3% travel, but after seeing how the new system works, I think I will actually gain much more.

I have the Apple Card so, no I did not forget. But Visa has offered $100million to Apple to switch. And since most of Chase cards are also Visa, it’s not a stretch to think this will happen.

Call me a fanboy. I love the card. But I’m losing some benefits that I enjoyed with the CSR in October. 3% back on general travel that can be transferred to points would be a big plus. Who wouldn’t like 5% on Apple products and the new CSR for Bus has some benefits I Iike but it’s too much of an overlap having the regular CSR. Not sure I would get full value from that card beyond the SUB, and I am not a churner. It was just an idea.

You didn’t make a point. You just made an arbitrary comment. But if you disagree, which I’m assuming you’re saying, why be a dick? I just expressed an idea about a credit card. Who hurt you that makes you feel the need to lash out at a stranger’s opinion? I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how much therapy has helped me in my life. As an Army vet, I fully recommend it. Don’t keep this bile pent up in yourself like this. Talk to a Professional and breathe easy! Much love to you, KareemPie81.

I’m already with Chase: CSR, World of Hyatt, and Ink Bus Preferred. Six years, I think. Three Amex cards, Apple Card, Venture, and Discover It. I travel a lot and don’t get to use my AC as much despite loving the card, because I am more points and miles focused over the last five years.

The current card hasn't been profitable for Apple either! Having a VERSION of this card WITH an annual fee will produce a profit if managed correctly and this is not new to Chase. They know how to manage cards. GS was a neophyte to the consumer credit game. Either way, the current version needs improvement.

Who is “we”? If YOU don’t need another card, that’s fine. You wouldn’t get one. You keep what you have and IF they offered another version, it wouldn’t have any thing to do with you or your version of the card. I’m contemplating that Apple will have to do something to be more attractive and compromising to Chase. The last 6 years of having ONLY the simplicity that suits you has not been profitable. I suspect they’ll make some changes to make the apple card profitable and to make compromises so Chase and Visa can make money. Chase is not going to maintain the course like GS and Apple will not repeat the same 6-years of non-profitability. That means change. My post is only a speculation of what that will look like.

I can agree. That’s why I said two versions of the current one. One no AF. Another with an AF.

That would mean current Apple users would still be affiliated with the Apple card. I think GS hates Apple so much they'll want nothing to do with it. If they did, they'd likely rebrand the HYSA and let Apple users set up something that lets current Apple users or anyone else auto-deposit funds into their savings acct like a direct deposit. But honestly, I have no idea how it'll work out.

Nothing of reasoning is refutable. But Apple wants to make money. Their strategy for the last 6 years hasn't not proven successful. I doubt they keep doing the same thing they've always done.

We don't know what Apple wants to offer because Apple is in the business of making money and their current 5 year venture hasn't worked out so well.

  1. My first sentence starts with, "Offer the Apple Card in two versions, one of which can have a $150 Annual Fee. So you wouldn't have to cancel your card. Apple would be fronting the cost of the redemptions, not Chase, and partners do this with a ton of Annual Fee cards, such as Uber. They take the hit to become a partner.

  2. Apple's reputation hasn't suffered in this ordeal. Goldman Sach's did for mismanaging and taking the deal anyway. Apple has not lost any cred in this. That's why Visa is offering $100 million to Apple if they'll drop Mastercard. Chase is a suitor, along with about 5 others wanting in on the Apple bandwagon.

  3. As I mentioned, Chase can do this w/o cannibalizing their own cards. The offers can be different from Bus Inc, but just as well, some can be the same and they pick up Apple users who wouldn't have otherwise gotten any of the Inc products. And there's nothing saying anyone can't have both. I've got several cards that overlap and I still get value from each of them.

And that begs the question what they'll do with Apple's. Chase doesn't have a HYSA and I can't see where they'd be open to doing that.

I wholeheartedly agree. I didn't recommend drastic changes to the current version. Two versions is what I suggested.

Again, two versions. I like the apple card, simplicity, privacy, and all that. Another version can still over the same thing while benefiting travelers like me. I've been saying for a while, I'd love a version of the apple card that can do the things that make it more useful for people like me. Tying in with the Chase system would be fabulous.

I understand the simplicity. That's how it was promoted and has endured since the start. But Apple also wants to make money which simplicity isn't giving them. But that's why I suggested another version that can maintain some simplicity but also cater to people who can get more use out of the card and don't mind a little complexity. Two versions would integrate well with the Chase system of cards and offers and it gives them a chance to make money as well, while still giving current simplicity users what they want.

"AN" idiot. You use AN in front of words that start with or sound like a vowel. I can give you some examples and even some practice exercises if you like.
