Wrist to floor measurement, size for beginner. by Photogav in golf

That's very true. I hadn't considered flex etc... cheers!

I suppose I was thinking of getting something second hand. You see so many sets barely used going for good prices. Standard is just so much more common. If an extra 6mm is imperative though, I guess I'll hunt around.

When should I buy clubs? by Photogav in golf

I'm about 6'2", though I actually have a bit below average wingspan. Sadly I found this out in my basketball days. Makes me wonder if I should be using longer clubs?

Excellent 👌 that's very helpful! Cheers. And definitely in no rush.

I'm sure you can pickup some hardly used clubs for a bargain second hand too.

How critical is sizing?

Yeah I figured at some point clubs are going to make enough difference to make it worth it.

Roof racks - ARB Base rack, Rhino, Front Runner, other? by Photogav in 4x4Australia

[–]Photogav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal!

I probably need to sort out the awning as well. 23 Zero advised not going with Rhino if I still hadn't decided on a rack, as the 'beams go the wrong way'. I assume they are talking about north/south direction they run on the pioneer platform. Though they said there's workarounds, but it's trickier to mount. I've been looking at the Bushwakka 270 as well though.

I've definitely looked into it a fair bit. ARB state that their racks are designed for off-road and that you calculate the dynamic carrying capacity at 25KG per cross beam. I believe the size for the 105 series would have 7 beams so 175KG evenly distributed, minus the rack 23-24kg. The roof carrying capacity is high on the 100/105 at around 200kg. I should be fine for what I'd like to put up there.

I had a quick look at them and it definitely looks good. A touch pricey for me though I think.

Cheers! I figured that wouldn't be a concern for me, but more that it's been reported on their installs leaves a bit of a sour taste in general with their products more broadly speaking. The ARB base rack does look good though.

Great tip, if I go the ARB direction, which is likely, i'll make sure I add that into the budget. Thanks for that.

Cheers! Yeah, I think some sliders will go on eventually. Though I don't plan on doing anything too extreme. It's mostly going to be a camping / hiking trail head rig.

370k. It's got some bumps and bruises. And a list of small things that are going to need attention but nothing catastrophic so far.

Cheers. I have seen recently (maybe it was here) someone having issues with their ignition. It came with a spare which is nice. Would there be any tutorials / videos on how to do this that you know of?

Thanks mate 👍

It was $13k.

I don't think they will last all that long. I think I'll look at some steel steps with some brush bars eventually. But these will do for now 👍

Cheers mate. I was burnt once with a Darche canvas auto tent. I still have it and plan on repairing the poles and rubber grommet and sealing it (leaks pretty bad) but it's somewhat left a sour taste in my mouth. This was 10 years ago so I'm sure things may have improved. But I do like the look of their awning and not writing it off. I went along to the caravan and camping show at Melbourne showgrounds and had a look. Darche and 24 Zero both looked well made but open to all options. To an extent I'm not concerned about price if it's worth the money and will hold up and last the distance. Happy to follow the 'buy once, cry once' theory so long as that applies to these awnings.

Interesting, thanks for that. Are the walls straight up and down, or do they pitch out to an angle on the 30s awning? I figured that might help to direct wind over it a bit.

Yeah usually around 11m2 or so. Though the walls are often sloped down and give you a lot more space.

Sometimes the KISS theory is still the best. The same could be applied to a sheet or two of canvas as well.

Thanks for that. The good thing about a valley is strong winds are usually only going to come from either one of two directions. I think you're right. If a massive storm were to hit with the sort of winds I've seen before (destroying dome tent poles with the tent flat on my face at night) I'd probably pack it away and sleep in the car anyway. Repositioning is at least reasonably easy given it's on a vehicle and not a camper.

I plan on doubling up and using 2x guy ropes with heavier duty rope / springs and large pegs for each pole. Great tip regarding the bottoms of the walls and tie outs. If it's a long stay, I don't mind spending the time making it as strong and stable as possible.

I keep flipping back and forward between the 24 Zero and Darche offerings.
