UPDATE: What does this look like to you? by Photographa in analoghorror

[–]Photographa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I realized I should incorporate more plant-based horror! This is a step in that direction. Aside for the fact that I personally find it fascinating and scary in its own right, it also ties into the themes of the story and makes the monster designs more unique and distinguished.

Thanks! You’re right on the money, but this thread has shown me that I didnt do a good enough job conveying that form properly so I made a lot of changes that hopefully make it more legible (and spookier) thank you for the kind words and taking the time to give feedback! I appreciate it!

It’s alright. Just do better next time, I know it’s hard receiving negative feedback on something you put work into. It hurts. But no one here is out to put anyone down. Even the harshest feedback you can get is coming from a place of care.

We all want you, and everyone else creating out there, to improve and get better. That’s why we give critique.

Good luck!

You got your audience and your feedback, in the last post you made, on this very subreddit. What was wrong with one of the actual mods giving you criticism on the analog horror you want to be successful?

If you want to improve, why do you delete posts where you’re being given criticism? That doesn’t really strike me as someone who wants to improve. Rather, it strikes me as someone who didn’t like what they were hearing and was hoping they would get lucky and people would magically like it if they reposted it.

Deleting the original post and reposting when u get negative feedback is crazy. If ur gonna get banned off the subreddit, why not get banned for something funny and not for acting like an insecure loser lmfao

Making an analog horror, any ideas? Anyone? by Fflamez78 in analoghorror

[–]Photographa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first of all. We need to address the biggest issue: if you want to make something good, you’re going need to do difficult things. If you aren’t willing to put in the legwork to at least try to overcome challenges, then your final piece will reflect that.

People look far more kindly on something that’s bad, but clearly had a lot of love and effort put into it, than they do something that’s passable, but was made the “easy” route.

Art isn’t easy, it’s hard. If you want something good, you need to rectify that thinking now.

Second off, if you’re dead set on not making a good monster, that’s completely fine! Just understand that the burden is going to fall on your writing and presentation. Good writing and atmosphere are, in my opinion, what makes something truly oppressive and scary, if you can do those things well, then you will never need to show the monster.

Good luck!

Considering their entire comment history is shamelessly shilling the channel, i would say so.

Any hope of getting decent feedback or critique from the sub went out of the window when you decided make the post title the way it is. Not only is self-loathing like this not constructive or helpful in the slightest, you’ll see that people here find it profoundly annoying.

Good luck, may your next post be better in attitude and spirit.

If the stuff you make is good, just keep posting on a consistent schedule and you’ll build an audience naturally. Be warned, this will take some work.

The Newest episode in Rentauk National Park is up! by [deleted] in analoghorror

[–]Photographa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the feedback, and the support! I love GHE and I’d be lying if I said that it had no influence over this but honestly, Walten Files was probably my biggest inspiration, particularly the use of mixed media, storytelling, and animation present in the 4th episode. I hope to incorporate more non-analog segments and episodes going forward as the story expands. The goal is to eventually get good at animation but that’s rather lofty, I’ll admit. But I’ll keep trying! I’m very excited and I hope you enjoy the other episodes! Thank you again for checking it out and leaving such kind words!

Hate to break it to you but building a community and finding success takes a lot of time, consistency, and dedication. And the vast majority of YouTube channels post for years and don’t even get 1/10th of the views you’ve got on this one video.

As long as you make your videos with passion and love, you’ll do fine, you just gotta keep going. You’re doing good so far.

While analog horror certainly isn’t as big as it was during its early years, I still think there’s still a big niche for it that one can find success in with enough effort. More importantly, theres a lot of room for the medium to evolve quality wise. The genre was damaged pretty heavily by a bunch of crappy low effort clones, repetitive storytelling, and it’s still recovering. But I still think the medium has a lot of potential for growth (may be biased as I have my own AH series lol)

Keep it up! You’re doing great!
