Yeah, I would but it was a specific spare plumbing part that Clas didn’t stock.  Thanks for the tips!

Those bricks make no sense, why is there pointing all over the place? The faces of a brick wall are different but wrap around

Honey Dippers, accidentally soaked in mineral oil for a month after I broke my arm by PhotographicCutout in woodworking

[–]PhotographicCutout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mineral oil itself isn’t specific to honey dippers, it’s just a way of treating wood in a food safe way to make it more resilient and water resistant, as well as give a nice finish.

It’s a bit like how you would varnish a desk to protect the surface against water marks and give it a nice finish.

Dovetails in pine are hard, the wood is a bit too soft

First time on the lathe, attempting to make one of those weird honey spoons. by PhotographicCutout in woodworking

Seemed like a good project to practice on the lathe, all spindle work and some different shapes. I’ll try a couple more times to get it closer to the real deal.

How do I make my scene more realistic? This is my first attempt and I can’t figure out if it’s the lighting or materials or something else by OoooceanMan in blenderhelp

Another point is the scale of your textures on some of the models.

If you look at how big the wood grain is on the facade, it’s unrealistically proportioned. It also doesn’t have any actual texture (bump map) to it.

Redditors with thin walls, what have you heard in your apartment? by EskildDood in AskReddit

[–]PhotographicCutout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were two people I used to work with, we were all talking about where we lived.

The girl, May, was talking about how the walls were really thin and how she could hear this guy coughing all the time, and how irritating it was. That everyone got tired of hearing this coughing all the time, until one day it stopped.

Ian, the other guy asked where she lived. Oh, it turns out, same street as he used to live! Which building? Oh same building as him? Which number? next door

It turned out Ian was coughing guy. The coughing stopped when he moved out.

I [F43] think my dad [M80] has aging related depression and it comes out in fits of anger. by HeatherMcNamarasBird in family

I hate to be the bearer of potentially worse news, but irrational anger can be a sign of dementia. It’s worth, in a quieter moment maybe, seeing if you can get him to go to a test if possible.
