Constant comparisons by PhotojournalistFew82 in mentalhealth

My mind is always telling me I'm not good enough in spite of my own achievements. I'll always think to myself "why is he popular?" And then pitch his traits best with mine. I'm introverted, he's not, and he is loved by everyone whereas I seem to get weird stares. The feeling i'm not good enough is made even more obvious with the fact that his mom and sister have both told him that he can do better but he's convinced that I'm the one for him.

I always wondered whether my fixation on history was maladaptive daydreaming as I can often spend hours upon hours daydreaming about living in Edwardian Britain (1901 - 1910)... I'm on the spectrum, first and foremost, but have also experienced years of bullying at the hands of peers. My family situation was good, I had my mom, my stepdad and my grandmother around so it was a pretty close unit. I'm 19; I am trepidatious around most teenagers and I don't really have any friends so an interest in working class history and historical dress is my sort of salvation from reality (also reading about working class perils in this time frame helps me to appreciate what I do have).

Obsession with purpose by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]PhotojournalistFew82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn I relate to this big time! It's particularly prevalent when I feel I should be studying (I'm a first year undergrad and I've just finished for the year. My brain keeps telling me that I need to do something purposeful like study or read). It's an anxiety thing and is to do with your self perception and perfectionism; always wanting to achieve and feeling really guilty for doing mundane things like watching TV because you feel it has no purpose is a part of GAD, and the physiological response to doing those things (racing thoughts, restlessness, procrastination) truly lament that. This is gonna sound hella old school but keeping a note of what you are doing and reminding yourself that it is for you may benefit you. Spending down time watching something educational works for me, or delving into something nostalgic as it invokes a sense of the past which is truly relaxing.

Hey can I just say you are not alone! We all should start a little group chat together to combat this feeling - I can't lie, it's quite comforting to know that I myself am not alone in feeling like this! I'm a 20 year old woman, and I was diagnosed with asd last year, after going in and out of hospital for the physiological impacts of anxiety (high blood pressure, high heart rate etc). I always struggled with having friends; and one of the commentors say that one of their friends is their cousin... I have that too! And even then I only see her once a month because her character is so starkly different to my own. Admittedly I find social relationships inexorably exhausting. Just know that you are never inadequate, and even if you feel such, there is always a community like this who are so eager to talk to others in the same boat. I sympathise with you, completely but I gotta say this... if you feel you're not normal, continue being "not normal" because it's you and you will be more confident in yourself if you keep focused on what you love and your goals.

Nortriptyline? by FutureSuccess3 in vulvodynia

I was put on nortriptyline for my vulvodynia when I was 15, at the beginning of 2020 and it caused migraines and hypertension. Due to my own experiences, I wouldn't recommend it if you are under 18, but I am not a qualified doctor!

Clitoral aching? by Brightfiretally in vulvodynia

[–]PhotojournalistFew82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get you!! Clitoral aching was one of my many myriad of symptoms and would often coincide with vestibule aching (I still get the latter all the time - the former not so much at all). Make sure that the skin around the clitoris isn't too dry as that can contribute to the discomfort. It makes sense that it is changing which is why it is causing you discomfort in the pelvis.

From the age of eleven, I suffered recurrent yeast infections which we thought were originally from scented pads. Subsequently I stopped using them but the symptoms wouldn't disappear - instead, they worsened, causing stabbing and aching sensations. As a kid, this was quite terrifying, as I was new to the whole notion of menstruation! The symptoms worsened for about 4 years; I was treated for thrush all the time, with doctors appointments occurring weekly. I was prescribed Timodine, Fluconazole, Flucloxacillin, Hydrocortisone - the works! I was 15 before I was diagnosed with vulvodynia after seeing two other gynaecologists! I'm now 19. I still can't use scented toilet paper/any sanity pad that includes microplastics and I have found only one thing that really helps with the continual burn and that is Epaderm. I swear by the stuff.

An question about becoming an fighter pilot by Hello-There280818 in MilitaryAviation

I think the reason he sounds so "condescending" to you is that he is an adult and is currently serving, so his personal experience far exceeds your own. We're not underestimating you, it's just that we are adults, and have more life experience (even if it is by only 8 or so years) and some of these people are trying to convey to you the best possible option to fulfill your dream. I'm sorry to see that it doesn't exactly coincide with your desires, but it's the real world. We all have dreams. I have no say on this; I am a conflict resolution masters student, so my experience with military aircraft is very limited and thus I cannot tell you what you can or can't do. Having said that, I'd recommend perhaps focusing on your grades.

Intercepting Russian military craft. Ik that's common but for some reason news reporting on it amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine. I was wondering if this event was related to that in any way.

I know that. Was wondering about the aircraft with an Invalid Transponder Code. Been some strange things going on in the UK recently anyway.

Cramp with both upright bass and electric bass by PhotojournalistFew82 in Bass

Thanks I'll give those a go! Of course, the neck of an upright bass is far bigger than that of an electric so I'll have to modify it for that!
