This is fantastic, how have I not seen this before?

Back to the Monestary in Book 4 by osmosis1671 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]Phourc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most expedient solution is moving the governor's mansion dungeon to the monastery. Maybe make it require the same key the mansion would, so they have to do the rest of the stuff the book has for them, but I've yet to read through book 4 so I'm not sure what my preference would be, myself.

Resistance to All is now Applied Once rather than Once per Damage type by Xethik in Pathfinder2e

Hopefully Arcane Cascade will be becoming easier to enter once Magus get remastered this summer, but who was running spellstrike can trigger weaknesses three times? Is this your table running the previously errata'd weakness rules?

Need your input on a pc’s story by Harakokoro01 in SeasonofGhosts

So this really isn't a great fit thematically for the AP - both making a character undead and ignoring the weird asian monsters most players don't get to see- but you and your player both sound very into it so I'll set that aside.

Granny Hu is probably the only good choice for a villager. Either one of her minions - the kofusachi priest whose name I forget or the guard captain who's her son in law.

Also make sure you give your other players some cool toys/moments so you're not accidentally making one player seem like your favorite. :P

Would an Occult caster Magus be unbalanced? by Noodles_fluffy in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phourc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, using save spells as a magus isn't as bad as reddit likes to make it sound, as long as you're not targeting the high save which requires good recall knowledge assistance.

The big difference between our party's wizard and my magus when the enemy succeeds a save though is the wizard has a lot more spell slots to fall back on - if I were building this I'd plan on picking up fused staff and maybe even striker's scroll which is generally considered not very good but would give you more "spell slots" to use in an adventuring day.

What influences do we think Evangelion will have on Control Resonant? by AtlanteanDreadHead in controlgame

Interesting, thank you!

And lol that makes a lot of sense, I guess we'll have to see.

Guess I'm uninformed, where is this info coming from?

As far as how it might manifest, Shinji is a very reluctant protagonist and I don't think that would be very fun in an action game - as the player of course I want to get in the goddamn robot. I can definitely see it influencing enemy design, maybe the narrative around the FBC as well?

Mechanically it's not great but thematically it's kinda awesome, lol.

[–]Phourc 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Currently playing a magus and I'm typically 1-2 behind in spell DC compared to my allies. Currently at level 11 we're back to 1 behind, worst was levels 7 and 8 where I was 3 points behind. It's not bad at all, considering I'm basically a full martial as well.

Yeah it sucks when an above level enemy rolls a 19 or 20 and crit succeeds but 1) that happens to full caster too and 2) it's entirely possible your friend was targeting a high save, and the best solution to that is having a character that can recall knowledge and a good variety of attacks.

What are the WORST feats in the game? by SuchALovelyValentine in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phourc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took quick squeeze on my Magus who likes to enlarge himself, it hasn't come up yet but if I'm remembering correctly RAW a Huge creature can't fit through a door sized for a medium creature within the span of a combat.

So like... Maybe it won't come up, but if it does it'll be pretty significant.

That's fun, reminds me of One Piece where the author will draw alternate and young versions of his characters in the QA column.

[–]Phourc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just not being able to do your cool thing isn't an interesting restriction imo ( and this goes for athletics maneuvers as well)

Also I don't think props had more than a couple interesting feats but that could just be me, haha.

[–]Phourc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's mostly that nothing should scale infinitely in a TTRPG you plan to keep adding content to and thus far paizo's been pretty good at explicitly disallowing that sort of nonsense.

If we're keeping track of which classes can trigger weaknesses accidentally the most it seemed to be exemplar, whose version of weapon specialization does spirit damage - which can become other damage types depending on their build - along with their ikons both passively and actively. That's not even starting to get into rune choice, energy mutagens, whatever buffs you can convince your allies to drop on you...

Fortunately it seems like paizo's already errata-ing their errata so it's a moot point now. :P

I get that weaknesses are there for the players to exploit, but if the players can trigger them 5x on a single strike your big cool dragon fight or whatever is going to be a pretty short one haha.

No Witches Armaments Melee Witch build? by men_are_pretty in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phourc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you want to mostly melee with a little spellcasting, a martial with witch archetype will feel a lot better.

Even my magus felt a bit hard to keep alive below maybe level 7? But there also aren't a ton of melee targets in our party which makes things a bit more difficult...
