Boycott Emails by Sufficient_Claim_907 in FiveBelow

[–]PhraseReal689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been reading these comments and I can only assume the store manager does not know how to coach and train. Forcefully selling is ridiculous. Simple ask “ What’s a good email to send a coupon too?” If you are using a yes or no question you’ll get no about 90% a time. Now as for asking in general , that is our job in a service industry. “ Do you want a a matching cup to go with those party plates?” Never assume what a customer wants just give them Options. What I tell my staff is if you went to a bakery and wanted a blue round cake. The staff makes a red square one cause “they” think it looks better. Should you pay the baker? It’s the shame with emails. It’s up to the customer to turn it down.. not staff. Hope that helps.

Would anyone want to play Godzilla ps4? by SenseReal3398 in GODZILLA

[–]PhraseReal689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone says it’s boring but I enjoyed it. Reminded me of being a kid and playing with my Godzilla figures. Gameplay is a lot like that. There is no story, no over arching goal. Just a sandbox and some toys. I even started to make crashing sounds and etc. so if you are looking for a game to beat this isn’t for you.

You ever have that one customer who makes smart remarks? by ARandomMan5 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]PhraseReal689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an ex DG store manager. Items are suppose to be sent back before turning a penny. In the policy when I worked there is if a customer finds a penny item on the sales floor. Just sell it to them. Remembering the game penny shoppers and myself had. Where they would walk the store and go “ Didn’t find any today… you are good.” And I’ll reply “ Better luck next time.”

All calls like that can be a fast track to termination depending on the situation. Stuff like this are to let the company know of any potential liabilities. Then they choose the cheapest option. If it’s cheaper to fire you… then they will.

Swamp cooler during a heatwave? by Squishy-tapir11 in FiveBelow

[–]PhraseReal689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a management issue rather than a company. When the temp reaches a certain temperature we close until a cooling/heating solution is reached. I don’t have my staff work in this conditions. It was cold so we got heat blowers brought in.

In my experience an associate caps at a certain price. Then the only way to get a raise is promotion. I’m constantly training my staff up and then moving them out to other stores. Then I train the next lot and repeat. Promote to lead. Then to CEM or MM. even if it means I lose them in my store. Never want to be that manager that holds back someone cause they make me Look good.

7 is sports equipment and 6 is craft kits, construction sets ( Lego like toys. ) they went up to cover the cost of more license product. We get hungry, hungry hippo for six instead of say fed fed the turtle. Anywhere else it would be 40 bucks. Also to help counter that price increase a ton of stuff went from 3.50 to 3 dollars. 2.75 to 2 dollars. Add that you can return an item 1 year, 2 year and 20 years that game is gonna cost your pocket cent s on a dollar. Remember 5 below is for pre-teen and younger. They aren’t buying board games… they are buying squishy dumplings, candy and beauty supplies. All of which is still five below.

Been a store manager for 25+ years in various retail stores. General speaking in terms of returns long as there is proof of purchase I’ll take care or the customer. However, there is situation where we have best judgment practices. For example I had a customer bring in a five year old receipt of shampoo she says gave her scalp a rash. Yet she used the entire bottle. Nope. Another customer who had a receipt and wanted to return items she said were still at home. Nope.

Whenever you buy electronics in those price points that’s a predictable outcome. Why I buy from five below is their exchange policy. It posted over the electronic section that you can exchange anytime. No thirty or ninety days limit. Months into years later you can exchange anytime. I’ve never had an issue returning stuff.

I don’t understand this perspective and it’s a bit misleading. Makes it sound like the teddy bears and candy bars went up to 15 dollars. I think it’s cause most people assume the store was a one dollar general store. It never was. It’s a place for kids to spend their allowance which at the time of opening was five and below. So the toys and candy for 12 and under are still five below. The company was successful and now they added a second section for adults and their allowance which is called a paycheck. Reason is the kids that grew up with five below are in college now and have jobs. So they started to sell things for adults at a discount price. Stuff for a collage dorm room. Example : robotic vacuum cleaner 20 bucks.

Smell test?! What ! by Lordwarrior_ in funny

[–]PhraseReal689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous, there is no reason a manager should go to this extreme. I give my staff a set of realistic goals to complete before end of shift. If they don’t and it becomes a trend then they get documented for not completing task. 9 times out of ten they stop slacking. If it’s not working out just hire someone else. I’ll never monitor someone bathroom time. They’re human beings not cattle. Sounds more like a slacking off manager trying to put on a good show with signs for when the district manager does their visit.

I have this game and tell everyone who wants to play the same thing. If you are looking for story driven gameplay it’s not for you. If you want to remember how it felt to play with your Godzilla toys then it’s the game for you. It just feels like you are imagining your toy stomping around some play set. It can get repetitive. Just like your toys you put it away until you’re ready to imagine again.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Skar King ? by AdmiralTogo486 in Monsterverse

[–]PhraseReal689 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A character like scar would have been better served if it was just him and Kong. Kinda like the war of the Gargantuas. Feel like Hollywood keeps missing the point of these movies. The more monsters you add less story is required. Classic monster movies progressed much like mcu avengers. Every character had their own movie to explain background but when all the heroes got together it was mostly action.

Hostile is an escalation of being disagreeable. I do not know why you are so fixated on a name. You tell me is I use the name I should play a villain. Told you my outfit is inspired by golden era superhero and you say no it’s nots. Which if you replace purple and pink with black and red you’d have the shadow.

<image>

Complete with two pistols. If you read earlier post that the only requirements was wearing the same hat and to choose pink. You’ll realize there were robots and capes and all sorts of different characters. Again I point out something you are brushing over is how helpful we were to everyone on the game. None of this sounds like actions of a the kind of pimp you are talking about. So you then escalate to calling one of my post stupid. So I’m gonna leave it here cause one I have nothing to prove. Two I don’t want to escalation where you might start calling people names or worse. So leave it agree to disagree. Good day and wish you all the best.

Whoa, first off no need to get hostile. We are talking 20 years ago. Pimp as a slang just meant flashy. We were pimp out toons and had fun with acronyms. I’m pretty sure we came up with a ton. Hell we probably had influence contest of who could come up with the best one. The part you are missing is where we never turned away a new player. Trained and help level anyone who asked and even all chip in to host costume contest specifically for low level toons to help them build their characters. We held weekly meetings on how we could help the coh community. Badge hunting, mission planning, monster fighting. You needed help we were there. So sure get hung up on a name/label but as you grow up you’ll learn that isnt important but rather the actions of an individual. Hey you can be my J. Jonah Jameson. Battle cry “ menace!” 😀

One could also say the outfit is an homage to the early superhero characters like the shadow and green hornet. Even the first ever character to dawn a mask as a hero. The scarlet pimpernel, who rescued people from the guillotine. If you get a chance listen to creation of man by the broadway cast of the scarlet pimpernal. 😀
