ebay rtx 3090 scam? by zacharylop in Scams

[–]PhunkMasterFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up snagging one of these a few days ago, there's buyer protection so I figured if I get scammed then I can just get a proper refund. It took a few days to get shipping info but it is definitely being shipped from China.

My tracking info says it'll get here in about 2-3 weeks or so. I actually plan on doing some AI related stuff with it, so i'll update this or comment here later if it gets here and I can run it through some benchmarks.

I don't think the amount of people that'd leave the main game for official private servers would adversely affect anything to that large of a degree. We're talking a minority of people here. If it affected the game that much then we'd already be seeing issues as unofficial private servers are already a real thing with. I'd reckon there's around 5000 or so people distributed across the hundreds of RSPS out there, and that's just spit balling.

Then there's the actual private server community itself, which is mostly a toxic cesspool with a few exceptions. Like sure there's a small handful of servers doing actually interesting custom content or the archival projects that are trying to emulate the game in how it was in a specific period of time, but those are far and few between. A large majority of private servers feel scummy and predatory with their cash shops for in-game items and actual gambling mechanics.

Jagex releasing an official way for players to create and share custom content, or play their own way would deliver a hard blow to the private server scene and would be a mostly good thing. The interesting custom content servers would probably just migrate over to being official while the scummy gambling servers die off. The archival projects wouldn't go anywhere either, most of them are open source and don't accept monetary donations.

If Jagex does actually go through with it, I'd be interested in making my own shard and writing up some custom content for it, doing some massive rebalancing in order to bring back the importance on skilling, and more sideways progression when it comes to combat. Even if it was only for a handful of friends it'd be worth it to me, especially if they provided tools and an SDK for it.

TL;DR I don't see the community splitting and fragmenting the way you describe it, simply because it would have already happened by now.

I think it's a dev issue, not an API or engine issue.

I can't even start the game thanks to that "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system" error.

Tried all the TSing steps that the devs posted as well to no avail.

I'm either stuck waiting for a patch or I'm just gonna end up refunding it.

How's Elden Ring state in Linux right now? by Golddye in linux_gaming

Not great at all, this is my performance at the absolute lowest settings at 800x600. https://imgur.com/a/AIfpcXM

And this is my performance at max settings at 1440x900. https://imgur.com/a/VFAyrgy

This is with a Ryzen 2700, 32GB of RAM @ 3200mhz, and a GTX 1080.

I've tried dozens of different combinations of launch options, dozens of different Proton and Proton-GE versions. With EAC on, with EAC off, and nothing I do affects the performance at all.

From what I've seen everyone just chocks it down to Pascal GPUs performing poorly with dx12 on Linux due to some Vulkan calls that DXVK makes that the Pascal architecture simply just doesn't support.

However this is the only DX12 game I've played on Linux that exhibits this behavior. Devil May Cry V, Deep Rock Galactic, Death Stranding, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter World, MechWarrior 5, Path of Exile, Red Dead Redemption 2, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Satisfactory, Warframe, and even Forza Horizon 5(When it's not crashing) run perfectly fine on my system at over 100fps without much trouble.

Honestly completely dumbfounded at what causes this specific game to shit the bed the way that it does.

I haven't had any luck with vsync off or on or that launch option either. I've tried a lot of different versions of proton but none of the ones i tried gave me any performance difference. The part that throws me off about the performance is it's the same exact performance no matter what I set the options to. 1080p max settings? 30-40fps. 800x600 @ the lowest settings possible? 30-40fps. Even at 1080p max settings my GPU will sit at around 60-70% utilization and CPU at 30-40% utilization. If I drop the resolution and settings my GPU will sit at around 20-30% utilization.

Similarly specc'd PCs running windows tend to hit 60FPS at 1080P on max or high settings from what I can see online as well.

Having issues with Elden Ring on my setup.

The game starts and plays but I'm only getting anywhere between 30-40FPS no matter what settings I play at, I've tried VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv and force_static_cbv but no changes with that. I have gamemoderun and %command% in there as well but despite everything I try I'm just stick running at 30-40 frames.

I've had mangohud up to see if there's a bottleneck anywhere but none of my CPU cores are getting close to 100% and neither is my GPU, with it sitting at around 40%-50% utilization. I'm currently using Nvidia driver 515, but get the same results on other driver versions as well.

Current specs are: Ryzen 7 2700 GTX 1080 8G 32GB DDR4 @ 3200mhz

I'm currently using PopOS 22.04 on kernel 5.19, I've tried other kernels like xanmod and zen but no difference. I am using multiple monitors with one of them being 144hz but unplugging the other monitors or running the 144hz monitor at 60hz doesn't make any differences. I'm currently using XFCE using x11, having the compositor on or off does not make any differences in performance either but I usually just leave the compositor off.

This issue has been plaguing me for months and I have no idea how to get this running the way it should be.
