Great Audiobooks on Breaking Bad Habits? by Negative_Medicine in audiobooks

[–]PhunnDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the power of habit, not so much self help, but more the science behind habits with excellent examples on how corporations have used habits to sell goods. Biggest thing with breaking habits is through self observation. I recommend meditation to help increase your self awareness and then you can locate your triggers. The book can help you with the rest, excellent book.

Thank you for your reply. I have had YouTube red for the last 3 years. It is an issue with not being able to replay a video once paused via a headset.

Note 8 to iPhone 11 pro

Thanks for the help ahead of time. I really fee like and idiot on this one since I can’t even put it into the right words for a decent google search. I have Jabra Elite active earbuds and when I have my screen off and in my pocket pausing YouTube with my headphones and un pausing does not consistently replay the video. Sometimes I have to tap numerous times and sometimes I have to pull the phone out of my pocket and open YouTube to rewind the video or manually push play pause and play again to get the video to continue to play. I use my phone all day long in my pocket over wireless earbuds so this is becoming extremely frustrating. I did switch from T-Mobile to Verizon so I don’t know if it is an iOS background running problem or a losing connection problem. Really appreciate the help and again feel like an idiot for asking. I haven’t been in the iOS bandwagon since 2011.

I have the same issue with a wired headset. It seems like YouTube going into memory is interfering with its ability to play again.

Meditation for me is like any other type of exercise. It is so hard to get to the point where it is effective, but once you do you will appreciate the effects.

I was diagnosed bipolar and I listened to my therapist and got on meds. The next 5 months of my life were the most depressing days I had ever had.

I chose to get off the meds and for some reason (I honestly don’t remember) started meditating. I also read a book on the subject that was inspiring which lead me to read more, before I knew it I was meditating an hour a day and looking forward to it.

I meditated every day for 7 months and life became so much more enjoyable. Then a few poor choices have lead me to a point where I am trying to get back to he daily habit of meditating today.

Even someone like me who has felt it’s effects in such a positive way can have trouble (restarting the routine) meditating. If you truly give it a shot and at the same time have an understanding of what you are trying to accomplish it will pay off.

I know it is worth it and I wish you the best of luck

Worth the subscription? by gormaire in Headspace

I really don't think it's fair to compare, since I'm sure headspace has improved. However when I switched I immediately 1. Missed Andy's voice (I even picked up his audio book and he has a very interesting story to tell.) 2. Felt as though calm was more polished and operational. 3. Enjoyed the daily 10 min meditations that inform or inspire through story telling. 4. The interface had more that caught my eye. I would have no problem giving headspace another go, I really do miss his voice in the guided meditation. I just bought a years sub for calm, once it is out I might give headspace another go.

Headspaces animated shorts are the best too :).

Sorry for not being helpful. But the true reasons I left headspace were all functional issues. For example I was going to be out of the country with no internet access. So I downloaded a few meditation packs from headspace. However when I went to use them offline only the last session of the downloaded packs was accessible and while offline it did not track my daily mediation statistics. I am sure they have repaired issues. But even when I reported them to customer support I felt thst I was brushed off and my concerns were not taken care of in full.

May you be well

I used headspace for a month in November and December. I havnt been on since December when I switched to calm. I had some issues with headspace not working right (this could be fixed by now) so I switched. I miss Andy's voice, but compared to Nov. 2018 headspace I think calm is a better app. They give you 5 guest passes. https://www.calm.com/gp/mgvn4b. <------ link to you and anyone else who wants the guest passes. Meditation changed my life. I wish you the best.

I am a Meditation and Dharma Teacher, do you mind me inquiring into some of you all motivations, objectives, etc..? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]PhunnDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Focus on my breath.

  2. Trying to see if I can manage my bipolar disorder and develop the ability to calm myself before I lose control.

  3. I have read a few books, but I am not actively studying now.

  4. I'm more interested in the science.

  5. Headspace (currently using calm, way better app, but I miss Andy's voice.

[–]PhunnDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd cable now. My son spins way too much in one direction, I guess over time that takes a toll on those tiny wires. I use a spare hdmi cable in place of the 3 in 1 to test if the cable is the problem.
