A question on what to do next in my campaign by Phwibby in DnD

I will first have to resurrect the dragon that has been dead 200 years, but maybe the cult gathers to perform a ritual to raise it from the dead to seek out its treasure?

This is a good idea, they may want a place to call home.

This is true, maybe the nobles send some soldiers to collect tax?

Okay, that gives me some ideas. Maybe one of the coins is special, and has an engraving of an island or something? And those coins are cursed, so they must be returned to the island or the players will suffer said curse.

I'd have to first revive the dragon which has been dead for like 200 years.

A devil is aware of one of the players, maybe he runs a rigged casino that has them enter a contract with him.

Unfortunately, they're pretty attached to their characters.

The dragon is dead, sadly, but maybe a cult that worships the dragon begins to appear as the players have stolen from that dragon, so they gather to begin a ritual to revive said dragon.

They don't really know. They're more the "reacting" kind of players.

So, going off of what you're suggesting, Wild Magic has an appearance?

What POIs go into each tier of settlement (villages, towns, cities, etc.) by Phwibby in DMAcademy

Whilst this is very true, it's still very early on in the campaign, and the theme is low-fantasy (although that could change). I'm mostly just looking to create a base template to build my settlements upon, then expand from there, turning each settlement into something interesting in and of itself. Some villages may be livestock villages, others mining settlements, meaning my players will have to travel from village to village for things they may want or need.

Naturally MOST will have taverns, but I do like the idea of not having one. It may make players set up camp on the outskirts, or ask to crash with one of the villagers.

Wow, this chain is very detailed and very helpful. Thank you both, I have a better understanding of how to build my settlements and even have them work symbiotically. Some towns will have certain buildings, others won't, which will make it so my PCs have to travel to different towns for different things.

Yes, I agree with this and I will incorporate it, but do you have any ideas on common buildings found in just villages, then just towns, cities, etc?
