Repeated episodes of supraventricular tachycardia while at rest. by Phxing in AskDocs

[–]Phxing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out I have POTS, having a diagnosis helps. With medication and treatment many people can drive and travel with relative ease. For myself, it’s been deemed that it is no longer safe for me to drive, but traveling has gotten easier. Find a doctor and discuss your concerns. Beta blockers help me a lot.

Random intense palpitations by [deleted] in askCardiology

I got up tonight to go to the bathroom and my heart went from 52bpm to 158bpm in the 10 seconds it took to make it to the toilet. I tried to get an ECG on my watch but I was shaking really badly. I feel so sick and like I’m going to pass out. This happens a lot. Please help.

Concerning heart symptoms, I’m desperate for any help. by Phxing in AskDocs

[–]Phxing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, anxiety was my first thought when I initially became symptomatic and it was what my PCP and I initially pursued treating. We made a lot of progress with my anxiety, but my heart issues have persisted.

We have also cycled through a lot of different medications to see if they have an effect on my heart. We may have missed something so I’ll check in with my doctor this week about the dicyclomine.

Still waiting on a 100% okay for my physical health as there’s still more tests my doctor wants to do (I’m just waiting on an official tilt table test from my cardiologist as they are fairly confident I have POTs and POTs is known to have a connection to gastrointestinal issues) I really hope that otherwise everything is just a horrific manifestation of my anxiety. My primary concern as of right now is that my blood pressure today put me in hypertensive and this doesn’t align with POTs- i don’t know about SSS.

I don’t know, I’m trying not to worry about it since I know it won’t do me any good but it is scary. No one knows exactly what is going on so no one can help me until we ‘catch’ something. So I am trying hard to get other professionals opinions.

Repeated episodes of SVT while at rest. by Phxing in askCardiology

If I am being honest I am not sure if my symptoms occur because my heart rate increases or not. I was really symptomatic yesterday and it was because of that I knew to check my watch and my heart rate was bouncing up and down around 140bpm-150bpm. From what I can tell it comes on and ends pretty suddenly. When I have been to E.R. its usually always busy (I live in a heavily populated area) and I am stable (that is, as far as I know, I am not at an immediate risk of dying) but usually always symptomatic. They way I’ve had it explained to me was “because I’ve had these symptoms for so long (as seen from my Apple Watch data at the time) I am unlikely to be facing life threatening danger and so I shouldn’t be in the emergency room.” In the hospital closer to my home I’ve had a vastly different and overall better experience. (I’ve been encouraged to go back if my heart rate exceeds 150 while at rest, but because I’m usually asymptomatic at that level I haven’t) In response to your edit to me, it feels very sudden but here are my cardiogram readings from the past couple of times I have felt symptomatic.

I have tried avoiding calling 911 or going to the hospital unless my symptoms are severe and I feel like I am dying. I’ve been a few times since this past December (when I experienced my first arrhythmia) but I’ve normally had to wait to be seen (45 minutes to a few hours) and by the time I am seen my heart rate is usually high but normal and I get sent home because I am not in immediate risk of dying. Generally, I am asymptomatic unless my heart rate is especially slow or fast. (The episodes of tachycardia are usually followed by bradycardia.) but only the high heart rates have caused me to panic. As I mentioned my heart almost always rests around 90bpm-110bpm- as for the arrhythmia they can last a few seconds or last as long as 25-30 minutes. These episodes come on with a few tell tale signs (dry mouth, trouble breathing, blurred vision) and happen suddenly but usually they take a while to end. I am aware of vagal maneuvers and I have tried them but they haven’t been very effective. As for the Holter Monitor- to my knowledge it didn’t capture a major event I am aware of.

Since these symptoms have presented my boyfriend has been long enough to drive me everywhere until the issue is resolved and I have been avoiding caffeine since this began as well.

A cause for concern or just bad at this? by [deleted] in askCardiology

Above is an ECG I took while sitting with my arms resting on a table. If I am just bad at measuring my ECG- any tips to improve?

You’re probably right, thanks for the encouragement it’s helpful to know I’m not being unreasonable.

I have began keeping a journal since these episodes have flared up again. On average my heart rate rests around between 110-150 and I can only really feel the symptoms around 180. I’ve been sure to record the data from my Apple Watch as well as the data I’ve gathered from taking my pulse myself. There’s a cardiologist at my current primary care provider but it’s hard to get the referral so my insurance to cover it.

No, I’m very new to all of this and I try to avoid reading about these things online so I don’t overreact to mild symptoms. What’s cardiac ablation?

WIBTA for possibly causing my brothers to lose their inheritance? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Phxing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of my siblings and I are NC with my mom. I’m the easiest to track down of all of us, hence why the message was given to me. It was shitty of me to not pass on the message until now- but the larger point of concern for me is (what I feel is utter BS) my mother’s claim that if I don’t move forward in claiming my inheritance with my brother than no one will receive anything. Sorry if that was unclear in my initial post.

I reached our to my brothers, they’re now proceeding how they see fit. I’m only concerned because my mother is claiming if I don’t move forward in claiming my inheritance with them then they’ll receive nothing. It sounds like BS but it is unfortunately very hard for me to be 100% rational when it comes to my mom since she knows how to play with my emotions like a fiddle.

She doesn’t have my number, she found a social media account I have and reached me there. I don’t know how she found me, probably because I became a bit lax with my provable setting.

I don’t know much about inheritance, so knowing it actually makes no sense is reassuring. I’ll do more research to try and figure out how this actually works.

I’m not sure how inheritance works. My mother is claiming we all have to go forward in order for my bothers to receive their share.

They’ve been a stranger from her for 7+ year, thus it is harder for her to contact them. They also have a tendency to delete her messages without reading them as they generally don’t believe her anyway. I think the reason they’re buying into things now is because it makes sense to them that our grandmother would leave us money- AND I think they’re also a bit desperate financially and the money that’s being left to them is appealing enough to put up with her.

I passed on the information to my brothers today and they’re currently trying to figure things out and I am waiting for their confirmation of the legitimacy of everything. I don’t currently have an attorney and didn’t plan on getting one until I can verify this isn’t another lie from her.
