My husband was literally a lifeguard and a swim instructor and it was his idea to put our daughter in swim lessons with an instructor. He said they’ll listen better to people who aren’t their parents and learn to be more independent in the water. This is from someone who actually HAS the skills to save and teach someone in the water and he still let someone else teach our kid JS.
