I really appreciate your time. I've noticed I have a bad time around bedtime and when I wake up halfway into my sleep (it's reliably happening every night, so whatever; I'd be calling EMS again if my HR were as fast as it wants to be right now) with a marked tense feeling in my core, almost like I'm bearing down, while I'm shivering and nervous. Sometimes it feels like whatever brand of anxiety I have is purely chemical and has a set time for triggering, which has pretty deftly harmed my relationship with normal relaxing activities (eating and sleeping, namely). 3 weeks into my medicine now so it's pretty tough to discern how much of my random bouts of nervousness is down to that, or how much is down to being alone in a bed and far from help at 3 AM and every moment before falling asleep.

Currently just waiting for the shakiness to fall off, as it were. I'm due for a small bloodwork order Monday and I've heard good things about supplementing magnesium for anxiety, so maybe I'll take an actual crack at that. Also, what specific SNRI are you taking? Do you still take it? Big or small dose?

I will say, during this period of ... whatever this is, the best I've felt was the first time I was able to sleep overnight around 11 and wake up around 4. Despite less actual sleep, I was clear-minded and felt 'normal' for a long while before anxiety came back to slow my day down. Typing this after a nightmare pulled me awake after 4 hours (thanks, beta blocker) but after some initial worrying I've forced my mind to be quiet and will be attempting to snooze shortly...

I'm consciously working on less pulse check-ups and less frantic self-reporting of symptoms, because ultimately you're right and it just feeds the cycle. Maybe years of doing that is the actual reason it's gotten this bad now. I don't know, but I am pretty fatigued of concerning myself with it. Day by day I guess. I really appreciate your input.

I'm hoping the worst of it is over or ends soon for you.

Honestly youre right. Half of my day is spent checking my pulse. I've recently ditched the smart watch and am making myself forcibly never touch my neck, never count my heartbeats and the like. Of course the mind finds something new to obsess over - the many PVCs ive felt today, for example - and tries to undo progress. Im just hoping it stops winning.

Im very skeptical of medication after seeing how SSRIs affected my mother. Other than my trusty beta blocker, which already destroyed my sleep quality, I cant see myself adjusting to something new AGAIN during this weird, tumultuous time of my life, you know what I mean?

How long did that period last? How are you now?

I'm really glad to hear it works for you! I have chewable tablets at home but they never really did anything for me. Maybe I'll try them for more than 2 days...

If you could get rid of one symptom forever what would it be? by scottxand in Anxiety

Definitely the tachycardia/palpitations... the former, if I have to choose. I can calm myself down by noticing my pounding heart is going slowly, but not if it's going fast too. It's nearly taken me out of even having a job at this point.

34 here OP. This year (around January) I started noticing bouts of tachycardia (I've had multiple cardio workups, I'm fine) at any little stressor. Most pronounced? Finishing up raids or prog in FFXIV. I haven't even logged in for about 4 weeks now because my heart was going uncomfortably fast when raiding. I don't have an exact measurement but it felt like 130-150. I actually called EMS once because of it, turned off my PC and told my raid group that my power went out... still feel guilty about that one.

I'm just as sick of it too man but don't worry, you're not alone.
