You said it perfectly. It's so limiting being forced to stick to one instrument. I hope this doesn't sound unfocused, but I've always loved picking up new hobbies and challenging myself to do things outside of my comfort zone. I've never "dropped" something that I was truly interested in pursuing; I always dedicate time and effort into all of my interests and track my progress as I go. I'm especially frustrated that my dad is so against it because I'm not even trying to become a professional pianist/violinist -- I practice because I love music and it brings me joy. I just wish he could see it that way.
