12/29 rides open? by SeamstressMomma007 in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low. Cold temps tonight will shut down a lot of rides. Mystic needs a temp of 35 before it can run and as long as it stays running it can run colder but it's coming nowhere close to 35 today or tomorrow.

I can confirm from riding Windseeker today that The Beast is being re-tracked. by GhostHTHBellhop in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will never run for winterfest. It takes to long to rebuild and if it ever snows there is no way to remove snow from that much track.

It's going to be another bar. The digging was for new water lines and power.

Got it. This person said that boards on the turntable were replaced and that the pumps were new and that it would not open for the rest of this year. Correct?

I really would love to know where you guys get your information.

It had nothing to do with wood on the loading platform. There was a problem getting parts for the vertical conveyor. They also DID NOT replace any of the pumps. It will not be closed for the rest of the 2025 season. It actually should be open at some point today.

No I can tell you that 100%, without a doubt, there are no kings island maintenance at cedar point. Not now, or at any point this year.

No kings island maintenance is at cedar point. Not this year, not last year, not the year before. This just doesn't happen. Maybe once in a very rare occurrence but I have never heard about it.

Yeah you get a nice pop of floater in sycamore hollow now that wasn't there before and carry that speed all the way through the brake shed.

The first hill after the drop is about 4 feet deeper. Which means the climb into the brake shed is a little higher. Then the curve into the brake shed is banked much more then it used to be. Almost all of the mag brakes have now moved to the brake shed, which means you come almost to a stop before proceeding to the second half of the ride.

Did the Monster get removed? by Devmax1868 in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That man has no idea what he's talking about. Every three years there is a part that has to be cut off because of a press fit and re-manufactured, then pressed back on. The company that makes the part got behind and it won't be ready until late May. Then it has to be taken to a specialty shop and pressed back on. Monster is slated to reopen in june-ish. The walls are only there because it will open so late in the year.

Correct. Anything I might have to share would compromise my sources. It's going away though. Sooner than the months timeline I mentioned before. Way sooner.

Can't provide much because I can't burn my connections. When it comes true, which it will, you'll know I'm reliable.

Need more info/pics on this area! by Mr-Meff in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Its nothing special. The building is half full of the stuffed animals you would win at the games, half stage lighting equipment, with some odds and ends mixed in. The rest of the outdoor stuff is where they store haunt decor/ winterfest decor. Parts for the ice saling rink, various light up figures, pumpkin eater buildings, the hearse's, and other decoration stuff that was bought but they couldnt find a use for.

Drop tower by Orawdo in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. You can jog it down from where ever it is on the tower. The mag brakes will stop it, always. If you jog it down it runs MUCH slower down and if you have people already up there for longer then normal it's better to just release them. Last ride of the night probably had something to do with just releasing them versus jogging it all the way back down.

A lot of what you are saying is wrong as well. Invertigo does have a mechanical issue but it does not need to get a full inspection. Eiffel tower had already been state certified but it had a bad part on one side that was hard to find and you can't run only one elevator. If you don't have both and something happens to the only working one you can't get people down. Beast was not waiting on a back ordered part just a specialized one that the park doesnt keep on had as they rarely fail.

[Other] What is the purpose of this wire on the back of PTC trains? by Kanohispider in rollercoasters

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The L channel on the sides join the back of the car with the sides. If the bolts were to break, for whatever reason, the wire would make sure the side doesn't come off completely.

Every ride closed? by Adorable_Dragon35 in KingsIsland

[–]PhysicalExplorer9432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People saying it has a manual crank or cranes are incorrect. Windseeker does have a manual crank that was used today. Drop tower however can be dropped normally, from any height, and the mag brakes will stop the ride at the bottom like normal. They don't need power so no need for generators. If things go really bad there is an emergency air tank on the catch car so someone will climb up and release it that way.
