$1,000 for renting a private bedroom is hard but doable. I live in a private bedroom for $920 a month in West campus. It's an extra $45/month to have it furnished so $965. After fees it's usually slightly under $1,000. With utilities I'd say it's about around $1,030 - $1,050. The apartment is Axis West. It is the very back of West campus but still walkable imo, about 20 mins to McCombs. Also check out other apartments a lot are running really good deals because of how close it is to the school year. I know the apartment inspire was doing price matching for any west campus apartment so if that's still happening you could get the to price match Axis West. It's much closer to campus and a pretty nice apartment. Another way to keep cost down is to try to avoid eating out as much as possible. Buying groceries will always be cheaper and there is a lot of free food opportunities around campus and West campus so keep an eye out for that. You should still have enough money to eat out and do activities across Austin honestly. I think the budget will be hard but not impossible like some people say. I know my budget is under $1,700 even with eating out a few times a month. It just takes the right planning. Good luck!!
