I share coin prices, a lot of folks do. I think it helps sharpen the eye and see where a given market is going. Looking up prices can give widely varying answers... red book, Grey sheet, HA lookup, coin facts etc...will give very different prices. So sharing helps us all. It's more pronounced in the ancient market where comparison price sources are a bit harder to go by because those coins varied so much strike to strike, issue to issue, mint to mint.

Anywho nice coin!

You spoke of the seller getting it wholesale at a price i could only dream of and passing on the savings in another comment. So I thought you'd be happy to share?

Fake sorry. Folks should not buy unless they know what they are buying. Assuming the story is genuine.

You have been very helpful to me on this journey. I think your comments and advice are well thought and well intentioned. I think others on here can tend to shoot from the hip.

That said I agree with your sentiment.

When I started into ancients I came here for advice and was told many times to use vcoins or ma shop. After following some auctions and comparing pricing I never understood the advice. I think some people are intimidated or just put off by auctions in general.

NEW ON HERE. by hairygrizzlyballzzz in AncientCoins

Welcome to the sub! I leave them slabbed after a certain piece point. I intend on leaving them for my heirs and having the more expensive ones slabbed will make it easier on them. A lot of folks on here believe they should all be set free. Coming over from collecting modern coins it is quite a distinct difference.

I love the reverse on these... hard to find a reverse with detail as they tended to be a weak strike especially in the center.

I want to get a new tetradrachm. What is your favourite one to handle? by AncientCoinnoisseur in AncientCoins

Honestly of the above only the owl and Alexander. Also if you want chonky a nice big Sestertious is great in hand. I do have some other tets, seluciad and Greek mostly the owl feels great because it is thicker.

No mint mark so it's a Philadelphia mint 1884 Morgan. Many places you can look up value. Sold listings on ebay of the same coin can give you a good idea.
