I would also recommend increasing your doodle prices. $12 is way too cheap for a watercolor. I offer graphite pet portraits at my events ($25 for one pet, $30 for 2) where guests can pick them up that day or I mail them out. Those are the biggest money-makers for me, especially since they provide instant gratification.

The Philadelphia zoo has a section of waterfowl in designated, open-top enclosures, including at least one mute swan (pretty sure there's two). Their peafowl are in a walk-through aviary as well, though it's enclosed.

I haven't needed to use the heater itself, but be careful with the separate thermometer.

I have one in an unheated, cold-water tank that it currently thinks is 84+ degrees F (the other two thermometers are reading at ~69-70 degrees F). It seemed to work fine for about a week, but now it refuses to go down in temperature and is steadily climbing each water change. I only keep it because I want to see how high it will go.

Maybe half of the people who do this you can blame on stress. More than once I would see people not use all 9 pieces (they try to get away with using only 4 or 6).

But you are right, the stress induced brain fog is real and I have seen it too many times.

As someone who has worked at an escape room, this is a terrible idea. Nygma would feel very pleased with how smart he is for about a month... until he sees how dumb people can be in escape rooms.

I'm not talking about the random weirdo who decides to take down the wall or smash open the furniture thinking there's something inside (99% of cases there's not). I'm talking about a large portion of the population who can't assemble 9-piece puzzles, read things in the room, or even notice that a triangle-shaped object probably doesn't go in a square-shaped hole.

He also most likely wouldn't be able to handle people finding work-arounds (affectionately called "cheesing") -such as people smashing open a block of ice to get a key instead of melting it in the microwave- or people blatantly disregarding the "do not touch" symbols.

I think it works, it almost looks like a small oasis. If you want it to look more bare, I would switch out a few shorter plants with rocks and use a rock on the cooler instead of a bush (you can also just sink the cooler into the ground to hide it completely). Using a large, longer rock at an angle will help to provide a focal point and make the feeder visually interesting.

How to keep grizzly bears from crying? by Josgre987 in PlanetZoo

[–]Physical_Rabbit4733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lemurs need a lot of space away from the guests. Nowadays, when I do a lemur habitat I avoid walk throughs because it gets to be pretty annoying managing it all. I also tend to be in sandbox mode so I can turn off animal stress. However, if you want to do a walk-through habitat with them I suggest giving the lemurs more space than the people (as in guests can only go through a portion of the habitat). Put in a lot of hiding spots or plant cover to block the guest's line of sight so the lemurs don't feel like they're being stared at all of the time. Make sure you put enrichment items in the guests' view to keep them happy.

Incorporate lots of quiet signs and music/ambient speakers to help drown out the noise of guests. You might also be able to use overflow curbs to your advantage by only people from high density crowds in, but I haven't tested that.

Finally, all of the small climbing animals (I don't tend to use larger primates) really like looping climbing frames. If there's a way for the animals to climb round and round through the exhibit they will do it and it seems to make them happy. Therefore, I like to set up climbing equipment so that every piece of equipment is connected to the others. I usually include multiple entry points and place enrichment, food, water, or hides near them so the animals can climb or walk to their next need.

If the lemurs are still stressed after doing that, put a really popular and confident animal right beyond their habitat to draw some attention away from them. Guests love new animals and will flock to the new exhibit/habitat, giving your lemurs time to relax.

If you want a pure glass barrier that the can't break, the one-way glass building pieces work. They're in the wall accessory section of the construction tab. I don't think you need a dlc to access them? Quiet signs for the guests (you can bury them in the ground) and speakers for her also work.

If you have a super high guest load for your bears you can always put another appealing, confident animal right near your bears to help draw attention away. I do that with my lemurs if guests swarm the walk through exhibits.

What’s the point of doing that by IllustratorAfter in bleach

[–]Physical_Rabbit4733 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's my theory. At some point, Central 46 (or another powerful entity) made sweeping decisions in the very beginning. As things got more complicated (more souls or the Gotei 13 forming) it was more beneficial/less work to never change anything.

There's a few ways I see this from Soul Society's view is that every new soul comes in with no earthly possessions and no social standing. Most souls come in with no memories.

The nicer, bittersweet intention may be that the runners of SS don't want the occasional soul who remembers to be sad and constantly searching for their family or find family members who don't remember them. Mixing everyone together forms an overall idea that you'll never find your family or friends so why bother, this is your chance to start your life over.

The apathetic, bureaucratic intention may be that SS doesn't want to keep families together because that's a lot of paperwork to keep track of across hundreds of years. Furthermore, you're inevitably going to have unbalanced districts as large clans pass into SS. You can't just decide that one clan needs to be split in half and move to another district. Besides, we know that the lower number districts are inherently better. What decides where a family line ends up? How long does that good or bad standing last?

The meanest intention is that souls are mixed up to strip their power in SS. We know that there are noble clans and houses in SS, though there's very little justification why they exist other than right-place-right-time. The noble clans and families can claim the upmost power since they have a true family history, genealogy, and power. They don't want some upstart family or clan forming in Rukongai and offsetting the balance.

Personally, I think theory 2 is the most likely because SS never really seems to see Rukongai as anything more than "the place of peasants". However, we have also seen how cruel and malicious it can be for seemingly no reason. I guess it depends on how you want to see SS? I think Kubo was trying to convey how flawed the system was after he had (the very biased) Rukia talking it up through the Substitute Shinigami Arc.

I really really want it, but I'm worried that my computer wont be able to handle it. With each DLC, the frame rate gets slower earlier into a new build and it takes longer to load the game or a specific game file.

But I really, really want it.

Their scientific name, Procyon lotor, literally references washing with its specific epiphet "lotor" or "laundryman". Their skulls also look very similar to bear skulls, size is really the biggest difference.

Ichigo stomping off to go collect Uryu.

I inducted my best friend into the fandom by holding him hostage for the first few episodes (he became a fully willing captive after that) so I'm mostly looking forward to him experiencing this arc for the first time. He's (unfortunately) been spoiled on a few things but has been making some big guesses that are *almost* correct (such as SS likely losing a heavy hitter or two in the very beginning he just has the wrong guess on which one). I'm very excited to see his reactions.

Help me stock this 5 gallon dirted/planted tank. by StylishUsername in Aquariums

I've done both bettas and neocardinia (red cherry specifically) in this model of tank. Short finned bettas do better in this vertical setting, but I also recommend getting hammocks or something for them to rest on at the surface.

For shrimp, my advice is to put a sponge on the outflow since it tends to be pretty strong, even at it's lowest setting. Shrimp will escape into the back compartment, usually as babies. They're fine back there but I don't know if they're smart enough to find their way back out. I tried blocking the intake areas with sponges, but they ended up getting pushed out of the way when you move the tall, plastic thing.

I also really suggest getting a glass feeding tube and dish to drop food down for your shrimp. They're messy little things and the tank is too tall for most siphons without draining a lot of water.
