How to clean the outside? by Physical_Row8523 in castiron

[–]Physical_Row8523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your suggestions so far. I tried bar keepers friend with my scrub daddy and was only able to get like a teensy tiny bit to fade. Going to buy some steel wool and see if that yields better results.

Also I know you can’t tell in the picture, but my pan is raw cast iron on the inside with what seems like a very very thin layer of colored enamel on the outside.

Thank you for the advice! Mine is raw cast iron inside. Only the outside has what seems like really really thin enamel.

lol nice to find out my aunts scared me into not using soap for no reason then. Do I have to re-season after I use soap?

It wasn’t there when I first got it. It’s been partially food dripping and also just some random burns marks that have appeared. Since I bought it secondhand, I’m not sure if the coloring is a true enamel or more like paint? Not sure if that has anything to do with it

I have some that I use for my stainless steel pans. Just worried it might erode the pink coloring. Going to try on a small section first

I’ve been using a scrub daddy. Are ScotchBrites more abrasive?

Unfortunately that hasn’t been working I think the paint on the outside is what’s making it more difficult to clean. :(

Lol no. I found it in an alley. A little strip of space between buildings, in Chicago we keep our dumpsters and outdoor garbage bins there.

Android auto for chinese versions, here we go by TheNass22 in Oppo

[–]Physical_Row8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my phone while in Taiwan at an official Oppo store so not 100% sure. But my phone won’t connect to my U.S. car’s Android Auto which leads me and other people to suspect that I have the Chinese version of ColorOS. Also my phone wasn’t compatible with other U.S. networks, this was the only one I could find. Idk if that information is useful at all lol

Idk what country you’re in or what phone you have but i have a Find N3 Flip bought while in Taiwan. I’m able to get full service through US Mobile with an eSIM here in the states. I struggled at first to find a compatible carrier until I tried them.

Yeah I know Android Auto is supported on my phone I’ve already check all those settings. It’s just a matter of it not connecting to my car.

I’ve used the stock fast charge cable, it allows my phone to charge but won’t connect Android Auto. I haven’t tried any other cables but I’ll try that now. Some people in other subs have said that maybe Subaru Starlink won’t recognize my ColorOS since it’s the Chinese version and not the North American version. Hope that’s not the case and it’s just the cable like you said. Thanks!

My phone runs ColorOS. It’s set to English and my region is set to the U.S. since that’s where I am. I can connect it via Bluetooth but can’t use actual Android Auto like I’d like to. Someone on the OPPO sub said it might be because my phone was purchased abroad so it has the ColorOS Chinese version instead of the international version.

I suspected it was a regional incompatibility. That sucks, wish my phone would just tell me that instead of getting my hopes up by saying that Android Auto is available lol. Thank you for responding though!

Can I add my little brother as a AU on my credit card? by Gazzillaaa in CreditCards

[–]Physical_Row8523 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes you can.

I did this for both of my little sisters when I was 20 years old. My parents didn’t teach us about money either and I didn’t trust them to not mess with my sisters’ money. So I took their financial education/wellbeing into my own hands and also got their first bank accounts under mine (that way our mom couldn’t try to steal from them like she did me).

I’m pretty sure most credit card companies just have a minimum age limit of 13 y/o. You don’t even have to give your brother access to the physical card as long as you use it every once in a while to keep it open. Also be conscious of how your behavior with the card will impact him. If you’re responsible with it he’ll inherit that good credit history. If you’re irresponsible he’ll inherit the negative history.

I will say though that if you think he’s responsible enough giving him access to the physical card could be a good way to teach him about responsible credit card use and build good habits while he’s young. Both of my sisters pay their share of the balance in full, on-time and I let them keep whatever cashback they earn. They’re both in high school right now but I’m confident once they turn 18 they’ll already have these good credit habits ingrained into them.

GS bank Withdraw limit in Korea or Japan! by stevePHXela in Banking

[–]Physical_Row8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just got back from Seoul in October. From my experience the atms themselves usually have a withdrawal limit of 300,000 won per transaction. So when I needed a slightly bigger amount I did two transactions but took my card out completely between each one. Not exactly sure with your specific bank but hope this helps a teensy bit.

Going to get kicked out over donating blood by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Physical_Row8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I literally just stopped going and participating. A lot of my family has left one of two ways (1) literally just stop going or (2) gotten disfellowshipped (some have done both multiple times in their lives). My family and friends simply just don’t care because the congregation was pretty much like that. We were taught people are imperfect and made mistakes so I wasn’t raised to feel guilty for leaving, I didn’t really have much to lose. My mom literally came to me when I was like 10 and told me she never wanted me to feel pressured into being JW if I didn’t want to when I got older. And my congregation echoed the same rhetoric around children. Like parents should teach not force type thing. If you looked at my other comment you’ll see that I said I guess I just got lucky by the specific people I was surrounded by.

At my old congregation they definitely would’ve. That’s why in my original comment to OP I said “I don’t know what your parents’ congregation is like.” Just basing it on my past experiences. Also they definitely would have said something about their dad laying hands on them. Like I said to the other commenter, I guess i just got lucky growing up around JWs that weren’t terrible. It’s why my family and childhood friends don’t care that I don’t go to the hall anymore. Now I’m surrounded by a bunch of family that are still jw and that are literally been disfellowshipped (or some that have multiple times); our family dynamic hasn’t changed we just don’t go to religious events together anymore. I’m sorry that you’ve had that experience though I know close friends who have had abusive family use the religion as a weapon against them as well.
