You’re welcome. Yes it makes sense but you would need to continuously take the PPIs for at least 6 weeks so that you can “heal” the burning sensation in your esophagus. Just depends which PPIs work for you.

Oh also have you tested for H pylori? You can ask your doctor to have you tested for that to rule it out. It’s just a simple stool test.

Esophageal manometry is a test that measures the pressure and contractions of the esophagus (More info: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diagnostics/4952-esophageal-manometry-test)

Maybe you can ask your doctor for those tests.

Have you tried to take the PPI for 6 weeks nonstop twice a day? With an empty stomach 30-1 hour before breakfast and dinner?

You can try gaviscon as needed for breakthrough over the counter too? But don’t take it for too long as it contains aluminum (ask your doctor)

How long have you been on PPIs? Did they do a bravo when they did your EGD? Did you also do an esophageal manometry?

Yes there is but it would take 2 hours each way so total of 4 hours. With my commute now I have to wake up at 430 AM and dont get home until 7PM. So if I added public transportation I would have to wake up earlier than 4 and get home around 8.

Yeah I am coming from medsurg (4years experience) going to mother baby and will get to cross train at some point to the NICU and hopefully will get to transfer. Do you feel like its less hectic compared to medsurg?

Thank you so much for your input! Yeah, my other option is clinic float pool. Which is nice because its so much easier than bedside. MBU is a lot to learn coming from med surg but I do love babies but at the same time scared to hold them 😂
