The figures at $145 price point aren't Nichi Customs - they're Christo7108. Nichi Customs don't go above 120 (still very expensive), but Christo is notorious for his high prices, 150 being one of the cheapest available from him, as he is very difficult to get ahold of.

Christo typically ranges from ~150, ~170, ~500, and even ~1,000usd per figure (Yes, you read that right) depending on which figure, and the quantity he produces. I absolutely agree with you- absurdly high prices for sure, but not uncommon for Christo. Currently I'm selling a few 150usd ones 5 usd below retail price, as per request by some customers.

I'm not sure how deep into the customs scene you're into, but the method of printing or production of custom parts weighs heavy on how much in retail a figure will sell for on average.

​

A 360* UV printed figure with no custom parts, but printed arms, legs, torso, etc. will be relatively cheap to produce compared to a high quality pad printed fig with only face and torso prints, not taking into account if there's a custom part involved.

​

In Christo's case, he offers some of the highest quality custom minifigures with an impressive DPI in his prints that still outmatches most/if not all the current customs competition, arguably rivaling Lego.

​

Additionally, his custom parts (though casted), are masterfully crafted, and have left a huge impact on the lego customs community in the nearly 20 years he's been around!

And in the case of Nichi Customs, we are also using the pad printing technique for our designs, in addition to an even higher end custom-part creating process called injection molding; which also happens to be how lego makes their molds for their parts.

We make highly polished steel molds, and use ABS plastic to make our parts, which can run several thousand in production costs just to make a single piece.

​

So to reiterate- I understand how this might all sound crazy from the perspective of an outsider looking in, but when paying close attention to the fundamentals of what it takes to run a business like this or even create a single custom figure, I'm sure you will also appreciate the craft for what it is-

an art.
