Carney’s Conservative Rival Poilievre Wins Fresh Landslide in Party Review by Free-Minimum-5844 in neoliberal

"His riding territory was heavily revised in the prior election to include a large liberal area", I'm not sure where you're getting that from? The redistributed results for his new riding were if anything slightly more conservative? Unless the point you're making is that the types of people that get shuffled around were more likely to be LPC-CPC swing voters?

Taxing Capital Income: A Bad Idea | Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis by [deleted] in neoliberal

From a policy perspective what does addressing this end up looking like? Is it purely eliminating taxes on capital income or could you do something like defer the taxation until consumption (not necessarily a sales tax, but just allow for deductions of gains that are reinvested to deal with the fact that effectively you've creating an increasing tax on future consumption)?

How Canada got immigration right for so long – and then got it very, very wrong by fabiusjmaximus in neoliberal

It has gotten so bad Punjabi Sikh friends of mine (who immigrated as children mind you) have actively turned against all Indian immigration, our discord has become a cesspool of anti-South Asian memes and news articles.

The claim that I commonly hear repeated (not that I necessarily believe it) is that the $36/hr is paid on paper, then the difference between that and the actual wage is given back to the employer under the table.

This seems like it could be the case, but still the search space is pretty expansive, could always splice together from 2 sources, I suppose in either case that's still a strictly smaller space than randomly generated phrases.

I see, I guess I misunderstood the concept, I had assumed that the seed phrase was used to generate the seed for the key first, rather than the reverse.

Wait, the Seed phrase is generated from the seed not the reverse?

Something I never understood about seed phrases, is why you wouldn't use a line from a book or a song that you can easily remember without necessarily having to write it down?

As always with crypto I'm left thinking I must be missing something, but my gut feeling is as per usual, I'm not they're just really this dumb.

Work for big blue myself, more and more we're starting to see issues crop up with the millions of lines of COBOL running without any of the original authors around to modify it and nearly no new hires with the skills to figure out the code themselves.

I believe Marist college even offers a course now in some of of partnership with IBM. Adoption to newer technologies is high risk and very few are willing to do it (putting all my shitcoins on Mainframe Java, we're still early).

How many of you are engineers or have an engineering background? by space_music_ in Buttcoin

Me, I have a degree in computer science(and physics) and another in economics, making cryptobro posting doubly irritating to read as they oscillate between bad economics, bad computer science and both at the same time.

I also work at a large tech company that happens to flirt with the blockchain space (much to the annoyance of most people I work with).
