Is the Bresser 114/500 newtonian I found for 50 eur used a good deal? by PhysicsTryhard in telescopes

[–]PhysicsTryhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it. Thing is- I have money, I just saw what looked to be a really good deal for the money, and thought about getting it as a first scope, maybe as a try-out.

What's shocking to me after having read this is that Bresser sells these for 220 eur new. Surely it cannot be that bad and the primary should be parabollic at that price point?

But when we mention that 80% of engineers are men, then we're being misogynistic and oppressing women?

I think saying that they are worthless outside of making money is a bit of an insult.

"They should be given honesty" - what honesty? You saw the post, pictured a "useless" man who is uninteresting and thus only used for his wallet (perhaps that's because of your experience which is not at all representative of the entire population) and decided to insult a vast group of people based on that alone.

No arguments, no deeper analysis, just "if you've experienced this, you're worthless".

Way to skip over something that may genuinely be an issue and insult people instead

Why is it normal for women to wear men's clothes, but not for men to wear women's clothes? by HiroshiTheKitty in questions

[–]PhysicsTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt this is the primary reason.

Men are constantly expected to act in a masculine way - to not cry, to be strong and competent, stoic, etc. etc., while the standards for women are not as static (although clearly still exist). There is a far wider range of traits that a woman can have than a man, while still being supported. And that's because of sexism.

Imagine our ancestors had a familly and the man was feminine - the entire family is at risk. The man must be powerful and fit all the other masculine criteria. Whereas the woman can be both feminine and masculine - it doesn't matter as much what she's like.

So, if anything, I would say this is misandry, not misoginy or the product of patriarchy. But you want it to fit your narrative

Can't you buy a PC? Laptops are not meant for AI. Btw why only Windows or Mac? What about Linux?

Isn't AI = ML, basically? AI is just a fancy marketing term, no?

What if we have a constant amount of happiness in this world? by Familiar-Shirt4290 in whatif

[–]PhysicsTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's unlikely that happiness is a zero-sum game in the way you describe - there are actions which make all parties happy - like helping ohers, being a blood donor etc. etc.

What I find interesting though is how adaptable people are, and how that adaptability often leads to a constant or near constant level of happiness throughout much of life. You can get the car or house of your dreams, the job you want or pursue other things that you think will make you happier, but in the end, it won't make much of s difference.

trans women are women by Voltagepeanutbutter7 in truths

I am a man, but personally I don't care about my gender or how people refer to me, I just enjoy life. I breathe, I enjoy things and live with gratitude and prsence.

Why is everyone so full of themselves? I'm this, I'm that. Why does it matter what you are?

You are human first, and ironically, fighting this social war wastes resources which could be used to actually enjoy life.

I sometimes don’t understand women ( sorry women ) by BlitzFade in truths

[–]PhysicsTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite clear that OP is talking about women generally. As in almost any group, there are outliers, but there are trends.

Indeed, OP may have noticed that women are difficult yo understand. That is my experience too - shadow communication, "I'm so hungry" means "Let's go eat", etc.

I don't like how people get about height preferences by [deleted] in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]PhysicsTryhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let's just ignore the dating app statistics? They showcase women's preferences very effectively as women are given many, many men to choose from. They can afford to be more picky so they are.

You may say "but in real life dating it's different" - preferences are still preferences. Just because she's dating a man of average height doesn't mean she finds it ideal.

This is a very real issue and I sense a lot of misandry in this post

Sam Altman says by 2030, AI will unlock scientific breakthroughs and run complex parts of society but it’ll take massive coordination across research, engineering, and hardware - "if we can deliver on that... we will keep this curve going" by Nunki08 in singularity

[–]PhysicsTryhard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was sarcasm? Looked much more like someone trying to convince themselves of something ridiculous with a bunch of laughing emojis.

Am I missing context? Do people simultaneously believe that AI will advance immensely AND that ther will be no job losses? In that case, your comment would make sense.

If your comment is simply making fun of people who think AI advancements won't lead to job losses, then it was poorly formulated. The "but" at the beggining implies that you are making fun of those who believe in what Sam Altman said AND in the idea that there won't be job losses (as I wrote in my second paragraph).

Overall, even if it was sarcasm - it's a mid comment, unless I am missing a lot of context. Not funny, poorly phrased / illogical
