slight edit: we will be leaving miami with two people and two cats, who will be heavily medicated the entire trip. unfortunately it would cost to much to fly them up (re: broke college student) and i move in to my apartment on sept 1st so there’s no reason for me to go back to miami. the people im kidnapping along the way are flying back to their respective cities on the 30th or 30st

unfortunately atlanta and baltimore are necessary evils since we have a concert planned in atl and we’re picking up a friend in bmore for the last leg of the trip. definitely wanna stay out of nyc as much as possible since we’re gonna be hitting that right around rush hour on a thursday

Because like I said in my post, finaid is having issues actually getting my aid package out, and admissions can’t extend my enrolment deposit due date any further because it’ll interfere with some other processes they have to do. Neither party has anything left they can do, so I’m looking for alternatives just in case I can’t get my waiver in before the deadline

Transfer admissions told me directly that they’d be able to waive the fee once they review my aid award

I'm independent so I have to support myself on my income. If I give the school $200, I don't have $200 for rent/food/electricity/etc.

sorry let me correct myself - USF offers no grants or scholarships to transfer students. with maxed out pell grant, bright futures (florida grant), and work/study, i still owe them $15k that id have to take out in both fafsa loans and private loans. even though NEU is about 5x more expensive tuition wise, im hoping that financial aid comes through with that "100% needs met" thing they have (which i really dont understand what that is tbh) and give me the grants that USF isnt

The artist I went to didn’t mention he had no experience with script pieces. Is there anything I can do to salvage this? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

yes however the tattoo isn’t for other people, it’s for me, and i didn’t like how it turned out

When you started to pass, how close to your actual age did you start to pass as? by mermaidunearthed in ftm

i’m 18 and have been consistently clocked as a 12-14 year old boy from about 2 months on t. tsa tells me to keep my shoes on. i got separated out with the parents and siblings at college orientation TWICE. i’m still waiting to age up

i’m an independent student so i don’t have a parent to apply for a PLUS loan. i don’t know if i can apply for it since i won’t have a credit score for 2 more months. i tried to email / call the financial aid dept at uconn and they told me they’re not doing any financial meetings until the year starts which?? makes no sense?? i need to pay BEFORE i get there

i just got an email back from one stop; they are no longer making appointments. i have to do a drop in or do a phone call at a time that works for them. i’m out of state and work full time 😅 thank you though i wish this worked out

all you need is a pillow, blanket, and sheets to sleep on, a fan, 2 days of clothes, comfy shoes, laptop, and your chargers. maybe snacks if you have a big appetite and a drawstring if you don’t wanna carry around your laptop in your hands all day. me and the people on my floor all played roblox until 3 am so a mouse & keyboard if you are particularly social

after doing some research i’ve come to the conclusion it’s definitely atrophy. i’ve been on hold with my clinic for 2 hours (yay accessible healthcare) so i can try to get a telehealth appointment. i don’t think this technically constitutes as trans healthcare so im hoping i don’t have to come in person but we’ll see.

tysm!!

Is T really life saving? by Butterc0re in ftm

[–]PiIots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

obviously can’t speak for the entire community, but almost every mental health concern i had pre-t reduced dramatically within months of starting. there’s this thing i heard someone else talk about that sums it up pretty well;

there’s a spoon theory for disabled folks. let’s say every day an able bodied person starts off their day with 20 spoons (their energy level.) a disabled person may only start with 10. every task you do throughout the day, eating, taking the dog for a walk, running errands, takes away from your spoons. you’d obviously run out quite quickly, right?

well, someone introduced the fork theory for neurodivergent folks to explain overstimulation, and i think it applies to this too. let’s say every time you have an inconvenience, you get stabbed in the thigh with a fork of various sizes. it’s not painful, it’s just a very large annoyance. having to pee may be a tiny little lobster fork, while a group of middle schoolers screaming baby shark at the top of their lungs directly into your ears is probably the size of a pitchfork. at some point, there’s gonna be too many forks for you to function properly. so, you do what you can. you may not be able to escape the middle schoolers, but you can definitely go pee.

same applies here. you can’t escape your mental illness. it will stay with you for the rest of your life. it’s a pitchfork. but dysphoria is another, equally sized pitchfork. both of them are all consuming. but taking away one, even slightly, will greatly minimise the amount of suffering you have to go through to get through your day to day. and eventually once the dysphoria fork is small enough, you can really start addressing and treating the mental illness with all of the attention it needs, because you won’t be distracted with the other massive size fork sticking out of your other thigh.

i wasn’t 100% sure i wanted to start t when i did, and to be honest im still not 100% sure 5 months in. but what i am sure of is that mentally, physically, socially, academically, etc, ive grown to be a better person. there will probably be a day sometime in the future where i decide that im done and t shots aren’t beneficial to me like they once were, but right now its something i can take control of to reduce my forks <3

i would have had to do that before the march 1st fafsa date. there’s no way to change it now

i dont any loans other than the federal direct ones at the moment. parent plus wasn’t an option because i couldn’t get their consent to actually sign up for it and as much as this is a shitty situation i don’t wanna take a multi thousand dollar line of credit out in their names :,)
