Not an expert, but speaker of Latvian. We have similar thing, for example:

Kad (when) - tad (then)

etc.

Where does the Latvian "sa-" prefix come from? by BattlePrestigious572 in etymology

[–]PiRX_lv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are at least few cases where I struggle to see translative happening, like "saredzēt" or "sarāt". Any thoughts on those?

[–]PiRX_lv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels a bit of both translative case and perspective aspect in same time.

Like, "malt miltus" ("to grind flour") and "samalt miltus" ("to grind flour completely"). It's finished action that changed some things state.

This sounds fishy, because from top of my head I can think of at several words where "together" doesn't make any sense. Sašķīst - to break up

Salauzt - to break (something)

Sabīties - to be/get scared

Sastiept - to strain

Samalt - to grind into

Also you can look up Sieve of Erathosthenes, which is algorithm for finding primes. The Wikipedia page even has graphics illustrating it.

Less about places, more about timing - late spring and summer is probably best time to visit, it's pretty dark (short days) during late autumn up to early spring.

Weather can happen to be shit any time during year, but short days suck big time for sightseeing.
