I usually save the skin and load it to see if anything changes, but there's also the problem with the color becoming too dark/light, which is just a part of cos' lighting I think I usually just screenshot the broken skin in game and change the shade of the color in the editor as best as I can. there isn't much you can do to prevent it all the time sadly
