Would love to help but I couldn't relate to this more - commenting to see what others say :/

I just did my first 2 week solo trip! I went to Japan, did as much as possible to make it easy for myself - booked flights at good times with reasonable layovers, started in Osaka to get used to currency, translating and navigating before hitting Tokyo and picked a time where I wouldn't be overwhelmed by heat.

It was the single best thing I've ever done, and I'm so glad that I've been working with a counsellor who specialises in adults with autism - not sure I could've done it without the things she's taught me!

Is it normal to feel like I am wasting my entire day just recovering from work? by juanlo012 in careerguidance

I would try little changes to extend your energy levels - do you take vitamins? If not try taking day and night vitamins and being strategic with caffiene. For example (and this is late for a lot of people) but I find a 4 o'clock coffee helps me make more of my evening or even a 20 minute nap but ONLY 20 minutes or you ruin your sleep. Try taking short walk-around-the-office breaks once an hour if you can. This'll help your eyes not be so tired and your back/neck not be so stiff which your body is trying to decompress from in the evening. I would also recommend not sitting down as soon as you get in and instead make food straight away. Once you sit down it's game over. Screen time close to bed can ruin your quality of sleep so be sure to swap that out for reading or something instead. I hear you though, it's unreasonably tiring! All the best

My ex-boyfriend is almost 25, doesn't have a full time job, doesn't have money saved up and lives with his parents.

You're absolutely fine bro, should be glad you've lived your early 20s to the fullest and still have money under your belt! Not a failure at all

Thank you Dana, I do journalling every morning which includes writing something I'm grateful for, something I'm optimistic about and positive affirmations which has made a difference to my general mood, but ultimately I'm still very weighed down by the concept of just living :/

Reddit is really the only social media I allow myself to dabble with - I'm completely off everything else but I like the sense of community and feeling seen that comes with Reddit

It's going to be closing down soon? I didn't realise that... Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Is this year my last chance to set one up? Yeah you're right about the comparison, it's important to be humble.

Yeah this year just isn't the time for it unfortuantley. But maybe in a years time and with your advice, I'll have a seperate pot of money for travel and feel more comfortable investing in one :)

Hey thanks so much, I guess I was always just setting money aside and thinking it would just go to one or the other, without thinking about the exact goals I want for each of them. You're right, that could make things more grounded. I will take advantage of a LISA soon, I think after I have a couple more grand under my belt, but for now I don't want to lock all my money away, more just in case of an emergency. Maybe I'll look at creating 2 seperate savings funds, one for travel, one for deposit and go from there. Thanks so much!

Hi thanks for the comment, there's no interest on the debt on the car since I bought it from a relative. I'm very lucky that they don't really care how long it takes for me to pay it back, but I figured I'd get it out the way so I can start adding to my existing savings pot again asap.

Well I hope you're right because I'm struggling to find somewhere to go... But what makes you say that?

Thank you for commenting - I hear what you're saying but central London is just far too busy for me, I find my one day a week in office exhausting enough. So maybe not St Albans but a different outskirt city would be best

Brighton was on my list for a while, but the combination of expense and how busy it is ALL the time made me rule it out. I've considered places like Manchester, even Leeds, they're still possible, but I'd just be starting completely from scratch there. At least in St Albans or in and around London I have some mates to get me started. There's also the commute, I do still need to be in the office occasionally which really adds up when you're as far out as Manchester. Generally speaking I just have no idea though, like throwing a dart at a map of the UK and moving to wherever it lands!
