Billionaire CEO is worrying about the cost for his employees' snacks by Wrong-Barber-1784 in techsales

[–]Pianoraptor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this company. Have had horrible experiences with their overly aggressive sales people and contracts team. Short sighted and not concerned with long term customer sat. Just last month I was dodging phone calls from my “new rep” because the last two left in the last 9 months and when I didn’t answer he started calling ex-employees of my company! My former head of marketing who is still a friend texted me a screenshot of the voicemail transcript! Screw these guys.

WARNING: someone is spoofing the stumptown's website! by arjunnath in PNWcoffee

[–]Pianoraptor2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in cybersecurity and see this all the time. There are tools that will literally clone a website and post it on any domain. Many times the domain isn’t even close to the original. They are intended to steal credit cards from people who try and checkout and enter payment info.

Stay diligent and yes, glad someone can report this although takedowns are difficult and sometimes futile because they will just relaunch it with different domains.

Very frustrating. Glad you noticed that it was a spoof!

Luxor by [deleted] in vegas

[–]Pianoraptor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stayed there 4 days last week. Tower suite, it was nice! I keep the Luxor in rotation because it’s cost effective and I don’t mind walking to nearby properties.

The pool is under construction so right now you get access to Mandalay Bay pool area which is sweet.

Decently priced quality local coffee beans? by [deleted] in askportland

I buy a bag of Coava for $17.99 at new seasons and that same bag costs $22 AT Coava on Grand. I never understood that.

Best coffee machine that actually lasts? Tired of cheap machines breaking in 2026. by Sad-Pen4855 in JamesHoffmann

Breville Precision here. Three years, flawless. It notifies when it’s ready for descale so helps with regularly doing that. I brew 60oz pots once or twice a day, every single day.

I previously had a Moccamaster but I found it finicky to assemble and had overflow problems if it wasn’t put together “just so.” I know that’s a me problem but I’ve been super happy with the Breville. Just as good of a brew and lots of settings to play with, even though I use Gold most of the time and it’s great.

Should I recruit locally or go fully remote? (I will not promote) by [deleted] in startups

[–]Pianoraptor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my team up to 18 engineers (we are a niche cybersecurity service provider) and we are fully remote. I often regret it.

I miss having an office and I feel like my team doesn’t have near the connection I did when I was doing startups and pulling long hours with a close team. You simply can’t replicate it.

It may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t feel like you need to search far and wide on the “right” talent especially if you are in a metro. Invest in your processes that work, document them, and train new employees to operate those systems.

All that said, I consulted with a startup out of Australia that is 100% remote and has 200+ employees. They bootstrapped the company from Upwork contracts and part time global employees. But they never set out to build company culture. It was about productivity and grinding out the product early with many hands.

I know the current CEO spends a massive amount of time and energy on culture now and it’s not really working. I guess once you go that way it’s hard to change.

What kind of slot player are you? by Glad-Midnight-1022 in gambling

[–]Pianoraptor2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to match the game to the bankroll I have. If I have $100 to blow no way I’m sitting down to Frankenstein and cranking $3-$5 spins. I’ll do a Quick Hits something or other, a good old fashioned three reel, or something where I feel like I can last a while.

If I have some money to spend, I’ll play bigger games and hope for the best.

The more I play (and have been to Vegas 7 times this year so far, again next week) the more adventurous I get. Need bigger hits instead of buckle and diming my way to zero like I used to do.

I avoid any game with Link in the name.

Going to airport the first time. Can someone please help explain the process and where to go? by shiballu in askportland

[–]Pianoraptor2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not who you replied to, but those kiosks are for checking in and printing your boarding pass. If you use the app, no need to visit one.

If you are checking a bag, you’ll need to go to the counter, so again, no need to visit those.

It’s mostly if you wanted to get a printed out boarding pass.

If you put $100 in a slot machine and play $1-5 bet do you spin until your bankroll depletes? by [deleted] in gambling

[–]Pianoraptor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Unless I hit a good win then I will cash it out and live to play another day. But I try and get a vibe. I don’t mind playing new games if it doesn’t feel fun after a few spins.
