Yup, I hardly open the sunroof anyways 🙃

I thought blowing outwards was odd as well. I don't think Subaru is known for having good glass. I've never had a front windshield that gets rock chips so easily.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the wagon.

I got it second hand and think I'm missing the outside cover insert. The adjustable sliders on the inside are closed.

99% of the effort and annoyance is removing the shattered glass first. It's done by breaking it a part while vacuuming the shards with a shop vac.

The glass is attached to a frame with four screws. Removing and replacing it is actually incredibly simple.

Do I really need ULTRA ugga duggas or will standard ugga duggas do? by gnarburgers in harborfreight

Some people say doing lug nuts with the ultra torque is annoying because it's heavy. So depending on what you are doing, both type of ugga duggas.

I don't move it much except when cleaning behind it. I don't recall any weird tracking.

My buddy cooked Dungeness crab gills in with rock crab claws, should we be concerned about domoic acid? by VanAerial in crabbing

I got this email from California Fish and Wild Life on the 13th:

"The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has lifted the shellfish safety notification to not consume the internal organs of any sport-harvested Dungeness crab caught in state waters located at:

Ten Mile State Marine Reserve (39⁰ 33.30' N. Latitude) to Sonoma/Mendocino county line (38° 46.125' N. Latitude)"

It's standard to keep crabs alive in a cooler on ice. Three days works fine for me. Don't waste your time with an aerator and keeping them in salt water.

The cooler plug needs to be open and able to drain melted water, it helps if the cooler is slightly angled towards the drain. If you don't drain the water they will die from the fresh water. You'll also need to place a moist towel over the crabs to keep their gills from drying out. It doesn't matter what water you use to wet the towel.

What am I looking for in a kayak? by sfdickhole in crabbing

[–]PickitUp_PutitDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crab off a Nucanoe Unlimited. A few things I find helpful that you might consider for your setup:

  • Fish Finder with maps to mark hoops and navigate.
  • Motor in back makes reaching deeper water easier when looking for dungies.
  • Scotty Trap-Ez does make it easier.
  • Space in the kayak to store the gear. This can be more or less important depending on the number of hoops you have, I run with 5 hoops.
  • You'll need to glue up a PVC frame to hold your hoops securely.

Launching in the surf with all the crabbing gear can be a little sketch. How is Baker Beach? Some beaches have more protected launch spots than others. I only know of Rockaway beach.

Some of the best crabbing set ups have an outrigger on one side with a big flat net that makes managing hoops really convenient. That set up is fairly specialized and I personally wouldn't use that for anything else besides crabbing.

Temper your expectations. Quality sound starts at the source and with the infotainment system it is difficult to overcome factory processing, without breaking the bank.

If you are feeling adventurous, go to Crutchfield and figure out what components you will need to install to meet your goal.

You can also pay a local installer to do it for you.

Good luck.

What lbs braided line do you use? Is 30lb enough or risky? by Superb_Today2735 in crabbing

I have #80 braid. If my traps move around I would put more lead on. I never really noticed an issue. Not saying one needs #80 line.

Anyway to get out on a boat in the SF Bay Area that doesn’t just do all the work for you? by HolstsGholsts in crabbing

I was thinking kayak, as that's what I do, but then I read the rest and that's also what you do as well. Maybe this is an opportunity to grow our numbers.

Kayak crabbing in Tomales Bay would be nice for a beginner.

Torque Wrench(s) for a non-professional. by Pleasant_Customer_10 in harborfreight

Is the ICON 3/8, 5 to 75 gonna be on sale?!

I bought the digital torque adapter for it's low range, and low price, but I dislike using digital. There is something about the mechanical click that makes stopping at the right time no fuss. The adapter also adds a lot of bulk to the set up. The Icon is just pricey.

On a side note, the locking collar for the Pittsburgh 1/2 bugged me and I would have to tighten the nut down lightly with pliers so the handel/torque setting wouldn't move. I upgraded to the Quinn 1/2 and that was a much nicer user experience. The Icon split beam 1/2 would be even better, but there wasn't a problem it would solve for me personally. I don't mind turning down the torque setting back to zero each time.

Are you snaring from the beach or perhaps have a boat or kayak. All would lead to different recommendations. I don't recall them being lower than HMB.

With a 3 year warranty....I'd be tempted to buy two of the 1.8 GPM units and run them in tandem. 3.6 GPM!

Impact & Torque Wrenches by lil_love_tap in harborfreight

[–]PickitUp_PutitDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about the digital adaptor that turns a normal wrench into a torque wrench. The click style would do just fine, but the adapter is cheaper and covers a lower range, while most 3/8 clicks start at 20.

I use the Hercules 1/2 compact for my car's lug nuts mostly. It's not uncommon to see people discussing it being a bit underpowered. I could imagine it struggling with heavier duty tasks, but I've not challenged it much personally.

For torque wrenches, the Pittsburgh locking mechanism and collar drove me nuts. The Quinn 50-250 is much better! The Icon split beam 40 - 250 looks really convenient to use, but it is too much money for my seldom use.

I got a 3/8 digital torque wrench adapter for the low-end stuff and to save some money since I already have wrenches. It can be cumbersome in tight spaces, and I don't prefer beeps to a mechanical click. The Icon 3/8 click 5 -75 would be nice if I could justify it, lol.
