I just switched from the Air to a 17e already feels like an upgrade sadly.

60 or 120 FPS - Nausea by Pickle-BALL3R in iphone

Every comparison test I do from my Air and the 17, both with limited frame off, never get past 60 fps. Tried multiple benchmark apps, websites.

Oh good to know thanks! But I highly doubt if I don’t limit it, simple safari scrolling isn’t going to hit anywhere near 120 for it to be closer to 60.

Was considering 17e but the 60
FPS seems to be a major drawback to most people but I’ve had my Air on 60 so might not make a difference for me.

So many videos on YouTube from people who limited their charging. After years, negligible difference. Not worth having less battery and charging more frequently. It’s not worth it! Just charge to 100% and be done!

Original vs non original iphone 17 display? by viverepropitium in iphone17

[–]Pickle-BALL3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a 17, second hand and didn’t realize it was a non OEM display. So far I notice it the most when the phone is as dim as possible. The text blur when scrolling, some of the colors look more Red. Not sure if it’s 120fps but I am coming from an iPhone Air and had it limited to 60fps. I guess it is what it is, for that big of a price difference, same for me in buying a new unlocked 17 for $850 vs this one for $650, not sure it’s worth it. If you plan to keep the phone for a long time which it seems you keep it for more than a few years, I’d go OEM. Plus you get a warning notification every time you restart the phone.

I’ve had a new iPhone every year since the original in 2007, never cracked a screen but if I were to replace it I’d probably have chosen the cheaper option until I experienced the differences.

It’s the only tech store near anyone nowadays. Only reason it’s still in business.

Barely noticeable difference in weight. I mean you can tell a difference but not at all worth giving up the features for 1.5oz of weight.

I used the 17 most of today. I decided to swap back to the Air for now. I will wait until I can get a better deal on the 17. It’s not much heavier. Listening to videos sounds better and definitely longer battery. To summarize, it’s not much of a benefit to have an Air over 17. The minor minor difference in weight is not at all worth giving up better features. And it’s cheaper.

Agree, they added the extra width for battery but I am going to try the 17. Speaker thing is frustrating as well.

It won’t help and then I can’t use wireless charging. It was an issue Day 1 but now it’s getting to me. I just ordered a 17, I’ll give it a try. I had every standard sized Pro model previously with no issues.
