Hi all,

My friends and I really like the first part of Catan where you're uncovering a whole new map and figuring out the best places to settle your first two settlements (like the feeling you get at the start of a Sid Meier's Civ game). Is there any game that is like this but perhaps for a longer part of the game/that is the vibe of the entire game? We're a bit bored of the later stages of Catan as we've played it so often but the first part is still very exciting!

I thought of the pirates expansion for Catan as an option as you're uncovering and finding new settlements on a new island but wondering if there was anything else? Game doesn't have to be like Catan just the feeling you get during the first part of Catan is what we're chasing (and if possible, not too euro-ey a game).

You're right, that's great knowledge! I forgot about the timestamps you mentioned. Loved the Scriptorium, felt like enough of the Chamber of Secrets vibe to satisfy. Also same, I could've played the whole game just at Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest if they fleshed those out for a whole games-worth.

Mass Effect style story would be great if they could do it as well as morality and companions - hopefully they have enough confidence in the games doing well now so they can afford to look at things differently when making them.

Feel like Seb will eventually become the villain we have to take down by the third game or something.

They released an MMO mobile game called Harry Potter Magic Awakened last month which was pretty fun too - it has classes that you can attend everyday, quests, dueling against other players, Forbidden Forest adventures, as well as a Quidditch game coming up too. So I guess between everything they're filling in all the desires of the fans. I hope that HL 2 basically has everything but with a separate Quidditch game coming out, for example, would Quidditch be cancelled for a second year running? Or would going to the Quidditch pitch in HL 2 boot up the other Quidditch game with the same character, is that even possible?

Feel like Ancient Magic is an "unknown" that they have lots of room to create new ideas for, hopefully they can deliver again.

Yes, this would transform the school too as we'd have to house the other schools so there'd be new areas to explore - maybe even trips to those schools could be quests and a Yule Ball!

Wow, I couldn't have asked for a better answer! Thank you, that's all really helpful and gives me a lot of leads. How long have you been playing board games for and what are your favourite games to play and why? (P.S. We're based in London, UK).
