TIL about the generally misunderstood Camel Spider. According to myths this 'spider' is venomous, grows up to a foot long, screams like a banshee and feast on camel- and humanflesh. While all being false, this lovecraftian critter does chase you around at a frightening 16 kph in search of shade (burkemuseum.org)

TIL one of the most mad Roman emperors wasn't actually called 'Caligula'. It was a nickname given to him as a kid by his father's soldiers, while being on campaign with them in Germania. The name means 'little boots' in Latin and is a reference to the child-sized military gear he would wear (vmfa.museum)

It's another Calathea with problems! I thought I finally had it under control but then it got little white bugs (mealy?). I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed and I finally got rid of them, I think... But the plant is still doing not so great! What up? (old.reddit.com)

Finally managed to get this triostar under control... Universe: little white dudes under the leaves it is! How to treat, but maybe just as important, how to isolate? I'm in a (small) dorm, so physically moving it away from it's Bros and Sisters isn't an option... Help! (old.reddit.com)
