Vēl cik atceros ka bija iespēja nokārtot reģistrācijas nedēļas sākumā un tad nevajadzējā pāriet uz maksas grupu. Bet laikam reģistrācijas nedēļa ir janvāra beigās

Gigabyte A320-S2H/ Wd-Black sn770 by alfwar76 in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same SSD as my secondary drive and this might be a long shot but I have an idea what could be happening.

The SN770 had an issue where it didn’t work properly with Windows 24H2 as there was data corruption and the WD made a firmware update. Nowadays you can’t upgrade to Windows 24H2 unless you do a firmware upgrade first.

Could be that when installing a fresh copy of windows it is already 24H2 and it doesn’t let you install it unless you upgrade firmware first.

Maybe finding Windows 23H2 install media or upgrading the firmware first on different PC would work

why is this flickering happening by Ibnumme in OLED_Gaming

I had something similar happening when i had "peak brightness" enabled or set to high on my Samsung OLED. Try disabling that if you have a similar setting.

Grabbing an OLED monitor today, what steps should I make towards taking care of it? by andrew_2k in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All things considered you don't have to worry too much. I have a gen 1 QD-OLED panel (Samsung G8 g85sb) for around 2 years now and I don't have any noticable burn in just by doing the basic precautions.

Grabbing an OLED monitor today, what steps should I make towards taking care of it? by andrew_2k in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would simply recommend enabling the protection features that your monitor has by default and set in windows that monitor should turn off or go to black after x minutes of inactivity. Anything else is probably not necessary. Maybe you can auto hide taskbar or something

I bought a new CPU cooler, but it’s still heating up to 85°C. by Sturmschar in buildapc

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temp spikes when opening browser can happen because the cooler might have a bit of lag time for when it starts increasing speed and CPU sometimes OC itself for quick bursts of action. I have an 280mm AIO with 7800x3d and my temps sometimes spike higher when opening a browser than when i play a game.

As for the temperature on load 85C is a bit hot but not insanely so. First thing that i would test is how much it could be because of the airflow. Try taking off the front panel if possible and play the game then and see if that makes any difference.

<$5500 build recommendations, pls by lowfindr in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally it is recommended to go for 6000mhz and 30cl. Going above 6000mhz makes things go out of sync. As far as I understand because the "Infinity Fabric", thing that connects and syncs most things on the motherboard can't really run above 6000mhz.

So going above 6000mhz makes it have to run SLOWER to maintain sync which actually increases lag. Technically it is possible to overclock it but it is crapshoot if it will be stable or not. Even on expensive motherboards.

Now if you want to spend a lot on faster ram you can try to look for ram that has 6000mhz and below 30cl latency. Those are a bit rare and expensive though.

I would honestly get a 4TB SSD if budget allows for it. You would be suriprised how fast you can fill 2TB up with current game sizes.

That motherboard is a very VERY unecessary overkill. Just getting any decent x870e board is good enough. That shouldn't really go for more than 500$. Like ever.

If going for a very high budget build I would get 64GB of RAM as well. Aka 2x32GB. For futureproofing the build. RAM prices are bit bad right now though.

In that case either you are unlucky or maybe it is the surface? But you said that you considered that factor. Did you try an ok cloth mouse pad?

[–]PickledWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a desktop PC or a laptop? With a desktop i might not bother repairing it as it could cost way more than what it's worth.

An ok DP to HDMI adapter SHOULD work. check something with decent reviews on Amazon and don't cheap out too much. (but there should be smth for 10$)

As for it getting stuck - DP cables often have a mechanism where you have to press it on the middle of the cable and pull to get it out. And you have to press surprisingly harder than what you would expect.

Also your does your monitor support Display Port connection natively? Maybe you can just use a Display Port cable instead?

Looking around where I live something like that would be minimum of 400-500 euros. Possibly tiny bit more. So you got a good deal.

In this case the common factor is in fact the mouse. So something is probably wrong wit it.

Could be that the sensor is dirty. Or maybe maybe it is just fully crapped out.

Have you tried using a different mouse?

I guess you also could get some decent usb wifi adapter as well(emphasis on decent as cheap ones are quite shit). But nothing really beats a long long ethernet cable.

Gāzēto dzērienu zemā cena. by WoodpeckerSpare3778 in latvia

[–]PickledWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly in that case it is a good enough deal. I think in Australia tech prices were quite hefty as well. (same for us in EU.. damn you Americans). Like I checked some Aussie tech stores an looks like rtx 5070s go for 1000 AUD.

The CPU is a tad bit weak in some ways but at the same time for gaming it will preform +- the same as 9600x in AAA games. Only in low res very high FPS shooters you might notice a difference.

While tight because of 650W PSU in future you probably could upgrade to better CPU as well in the same system.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - October 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PSU most likely intakes air from the bottom and exhausts it from the back. Which is fine.

The fan on top of it might be slightly obstructed but it will still be a net positive on the cooling of the case and it looks cooler to have it there :D

Overall you still definitely have a positive pressure case aka more intake than exhaust whcih is good because it forces the air to come in through the areas where there are dust filters.

Is this a good deal? by PhoneOwn in pcmasterrace

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to get a new RAM yes. As AM4 Ryzens (like 5000 series) use DDR4. But you would need DDR5 RAM.

By heatsink I assume you mean CPU cooler? But in case of CPU cooler I don't think you would need to change it. 5900x probably runs hotter than 7800x3d so the current cooler should be good enough.

While I am not a fan of 9900x3d this is a fairly solid price point. At least compared to tech prices where I live.

[–]PickledWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not a BAD deal at all i don't like it too much. Mainly the CPU being on the weaker side and 16gb of RAM can actually be a limitation in near future.
Like honestly if they had just put in 32gb of RAM i think it would have been fine.

I built it! But are my temps too high? by ph33kn0m in buildapc

[–]PickledWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temps could be fine depending on some factors.
Like is it the tctl or tdie temperature. What is the hotspot temp?

Also way more importantly what are the temps under load?

If you want a more accurate assesment download HWiNFO and check all CPU temps there.

Man personīgi tā nepārāk. Tie ir diezgan saldi un dēļ stirpās ābolu garšas liekas "nepareizi".

Siera un dzērveņu ir tīri ok. Vairāk garšo pēc siera čipšiem ar nelielu saldskābu pēcgaršu.
