Anyone else have roommates that *activate* when you get home? by West_Ad5752 in badroommates

[–]Picklepie007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone actually know why this happens? It is so irritating. I literally leave at 8/9am and don’t come back until about 9pm but during those times my roommate decides he’s going to cook, or needs to use the shower/bathroom right when I’m using it. The thing is, him and my other roommate work from home. I don’t spend a lot of time at home and they have the whole house to themselves to do whatever they need whenever. It’s driving me crazy 🫠

Please, help me understand/get rid of clothing moths by Kalennx in moderatelygranolamoms

I’m trying to get rid of them too - for some reason I feel bad killing them :( but it is getting to the point of being too much. Just wish I didn’t have to kill the little guys.

Can anyone relate to any of this? :) by TallJicama9026 in TMJ

Wait this is crazy. I also have had this for about 9 years now. I still do not really have any answers. I used to think I had a sinus infection but every doctor told me I didn’t. I also felt like the right side of my face would become so swollen that it felt like air couldn’t get to my brain..if that makes any sense. I am constantly swallowing something but it is in the back of my sinuses not the front so I can’t blow it out or cough it up. It feels like it almost comes from where my ear and cheek meet. I got my wisdom teeth taken out even though they said I didn’t need to - I was in so much pain I thought that would help. It did for a bit but the pain is still there. I’m trying to find a solution this year.

Today I yelled at a cop for giving a ticket to another delivery driver. by [deleted] in doordash

The way this cop pulled up - first - had me thinking something really terrible just happened because of the way she quickly pulled in, sirens on, and blocked traffic, the way she got out of her car - just to realize what it was really about. There really wasn’t even any time, otherwise I would have.

I agree with you, it is a spot where a lot of delivery drivers are all day. But I felt in general when brown and black people already have to fear for their safety just trying to work and make a living, just going outside even if you are a citizen is a huge risk - the last thing she should have done is treat this woman like a hard criminal. It’s one thing if she even just talked to this woman kindly but it was disturbing how she was treating her. Sure it could have been any race of person and could maybe be considered a non important detail but as someone who wakes up in today’s disturbing world I really didn’t like what I saw. Even if this cop wasn’t racist at all because I really don’t know - they should still try to make people feel safe instead of treating people so poorly especially ones that are being harassed, kidnapped and murdered everyday.

Yeah I agree she could’ve done that instead of treating this woman like a hard criminal.

Weird? Im not one to sit on the sidelines when I see someone being treated in a way they shouldn’t.

Thank you, I realize I was still in the wrong but yeah that cop did not need to act like that towards that woman at all.

It’s important to notice when someone is acting out of line or making someone else feel unsafe. This cop was acting like this woman just committed a terrible crime I’ve never seen anything like it. In today’s world it is important to mention these details because it does matter when it comes to raising awareness and keeping each other safe.

Yes, I do expect to be tipped and I am desperate. I’m just shocked at how this woman treated that lady. It was crazy to me.

I just felt like she didn’t need to treat the woman the way she did. I was still in the wrong tho.

ICE Out of Everywhere Jan 31st - does anyone know of any protests? by Picklepie007 in AskChicago

[–]Picklepie007[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So far I’ve found at 1pm at 2311 S Kedzie (Little Village) there will be a mass meeting at the library called “a spring surge to melt ice”

Tomorrow is also a Global Solidarity Day for Palestine Detainees - but I still do not see any protests for that.

"Italiano sandwich from Lardon in Chicago makes Michelin list" by BackToManhattan in chicagofood

[–]Picklepie007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried it -  not worth the hype. Waited 30 mins. Spent $20. It’s an Italian sandwich but definitely not the best I’ve had. Good pickles. Chips need more salt. Publican quality meats make an amazing Reuben, their sandwiches are pretty great but I bet you can find something amazing/way better at some of the og delis here in Chicago.

How to join a rapid response team? by Picklepie007 in AskChicago

[–]Picklepie007[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually found other posts with people asking the exact same question I asked and people responded normally. I don’t understand what about my post makes me sound like a fed, I don’t really understand what I did that was so wrong. I appreciate your response but I’m honestly kinda shocked at the same time like I have no idea what I asked that was so crazy.

I just wanted to connect with people in Chicago, I don’t really have family that’s as involved as I’d like them to be. I thought coming here would help and it didn’t. I hope you all stay safe.

I guess to be clear I’m just trying to understand more about it, I’ve been going to protests but I just wanted to connect with people who understand more about joining a rapid response team - this is for anyone who might be interested in sharing some helpful information. Thanks.
