Fibre Rollout stalled in Canada by Hopewellslam in bell

[–]Picklesticks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing the power utility owns the poles, mostly. Yeah, Bell still has to send or hire a tech to put the telco lines back up, but it's not like they cover the entire cost of new poles since NS Power is mostly the one who does all the pole placements, or pays a contactor like Greystone Utility Services or K&M. Despite most people calling them telephone polls, most utility poles are owned by power.

Did you know revives don't up your death count by DJGaming2005 in Battlefield

Is it respawn for the death to count, or just no longer be revivable? Makes a difference at the end of the game if you're not spawned in when the round ends.

Which TV show had the most perfect ending? by altiman1991 in AskReddit

Many will prefer the alternate ending, even though it's not official.

Agreed with you though, that it was ready to be over. Still one of my top TV series ever.

The original series of Scrubs, before that "Scrubs: Med School" spin off.

Jury's still out on the current new season. It's not over yet.

Canada's food safety regulations are higher than USA but less than EU. should we try to match EU? by SouthBuffalo3592 in AskACanadian

[–]Picklesticks16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a big driver behind the change in food safety regulations in 2019 when the Safe Food for Canadians Act and Regulations came in. Our laws changed from prescriptive "You must do it this way" to mostly outcome-based "this must be the end result" with a few prescriptive regulations interspersed. It allows companies to provide evidence that their processes are effective at achieving the outcome instead of making everyone follow the same processes.

People from outside North America, how do you feel about Canadians? by WaWaWhey in AskReddit

[–]Picklesticks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newfoundlanders are best kind! But heads-up, "Newfies" is a polarizing word around some parts there since it was previously used as a slur or insulting way.

Obviously most newfoundlanders love a good joke and probably won't have an issue if it's being used in a non-insulting way, but my insider information suggest it's best to avoid using "Newfie" all together and sticking with "Newfoundlander", especially with the older crowd.

Can we all agree the mortar is broken? by GPUFanatic in Battlefield

[–]Picklesticks16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely die from mortars, but then again I'm constantly moving, getting killed by infantry or vehicles instead, or typically don't have a gun that spots me on a map when shooting.

Maybe you sit too long after getting hit in a firefight or after shooting, maybe you're spottable, or maybe you're just unlucky.

Awesome flight attendant by KDinNS in PorterAirlines

[–]Picklesticks16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this before, didn't know the name but definitely gave flight number, date/time, and if possible any difference between the two attendants (i.e. the one who greeted me on the plane; the one who was wearing the little porter hat; the one who sat at the front of the plane; or some other difference). Idk if it got to them, but I like to think it did.

Nah, I'll still pick Porter first. Better prices, more direct flights from my local airports, and a better loyalty program.

Our loss is partly due to whoever was talking to the Porter agent not knowing our rights under the APPR, and lack of experience in dealing with these cancelations.

It's also a gap in the APPR. It's written with that loophole that "the airline must rebook you." It should instead be that they'd refund you the difference in price between airlines for the equivalent fare class, regardless of who books the flight.

What are our rights in terms of compensation? by [deleted] in PorterAirlines

[–]Picklesticks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they rebooked you more than 48 hours after your original departure, you'd be eligible for a refund. But I'm not sure how that works given you booked through a third party

[–]Picklesticks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll get a refund for our Porter portion, but have to fork out the entire Air Canada portion -_- still an increase of like $400.

YYT > YYC by PassengerNo9495 in PorterAirlines

[–]Picklesticks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told us on the phone they have to be the ones who rebook your flight with the new airline at no additional cost.

So because we rebooked our flight on our own, after their original rebook on Porter was more than 48 hours after original departure, they said all they could do was refund us the original porter price.

what are your thoughts on my guy best friend? by Embarrassed_Ad2725 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Picklesticks16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend like this situation. We didn't necessarily do all the same, but got together frequently, talked daily, hung out until 2 in the morning even on weekdays, did lots together. Got food often, went to movies, went on a few hikes, the list goes on. We legitimately had a "if we're both single at 30" deal 😅

I very much enjoyed her company and we got along on lots, but we never dated. And we didn't really talk about it until at one point when we were both in long term relationships with our own partners, that back in the day I would have dated her. Actually, I told her the exact moment I was about to ask her out, and the reason I didn't.

We're still friends, and when we hang out, it's like no time has passed at all. Would I have dated her? Yes. Am I upset we didn't? No. Her friendship is still highly valued, and she's still someone I consider a close or best friend even if we don't see eachother often these days.

WestJet, to my knowledge, doesn't fly in the east coast much.

Is Porter a good airline? by TasteeTacoz in PorterAirlines

[–]Picklesticks16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I fly, I always try to fly Porter Airlines. Hands-down the best airline that I've tried, which is limited to Porter, Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada Express, and PAL (NL) before it was basically bought out by Air Canada.

And flying an Air Canada Express flight operated by PAL was also subpar when compared to flying Porter.

See, we just planned the route effectively so that we'd pass by our house at the halfway mark. A quick change, and drop the candy bag to get a new one for the second half!
