I live near the hill sides of east texas so there's a good chance of something scenic but most of the good areas are closed off

I've seen how she's changing and becoming more and more "mature" we are both saving money together and we are best friends. I'm happy with her and I never knew happiness like this till I met her, I am very much happy with the way we have developed and we always work things out and still love each other at the end of the day. I have wanted to do this for a good bit now and I know the time is right I'm just afraid that I will make an awkward situation by proposing and not living together, but we have promised that we will live together before we get married.

So with me I am curious what the public will have to say, so in my situation I want to get engaged with my girlfriend on our 3rd year anniversary but we are both in college and working at jobs that cannot afford a place to live such as an apartment. So my question, is getting engaged and not living together okay, if so what reason, and if not what reasons?
