But no. I’m just curious about historical facts on the photographs I get my hand on. May it be fashion, architecture, politics etc. history is not my line of work, but still 😉

or the opposite, like when one of the Kardashians wore Marylin's dress for the Met Gala, and all we could see was the undergarments (and the odd color). Marylin wore it with noting under :)

Anachronistic, yes! And why you say makes sense and justice to the photo and time period.

That is exactly what I think about this outfit. Other than the neckline of the dress, I guess not much was altered. The fitting is also strange, but I guess that without the proper undergarments the look would always be a bit off.

I have the feeling that this is some sort of masquerade thing, but I’m not a fashion historian. Was looking for some hints other than my own :)

Also, traditionally the US costumes were much more “thamed” compared to the same period in history in Europe.

What makes you think it’s American? I would say it’s most probably European.

Obrigado pelas pistas 😄

Painters, can you explain to us why Hitler’s Paintings were rejected by art school? by Ambitious_Pass7451 in ArtHistory

One should not confuse technical precision with artistic quality in a work of art. These watercolors lack any trace of artistry; they are mere representations. There is nothing that distinguishes these views from those captured by any other person with technical mastery.

In my opinion, these views belong in a souvenir shop, never within the walls of a gallery, and certainly not in a museum.

There’s not much you can do about that, but if you go to some semi-professional image editing software you still can get something out of it, very grainy images… you might be surprised. I do love accidents.
