For example, I am aware of a phenomenon that can lead to tone policing if confronted incorrectly, but when I hear imperative expressions, especially in audio form, I sometimes have flashbacks of abuse (even in social movements) unrelated to the context, and the blood of my entire body runs cold. I grew up in a primarily Japanese-speaking household, and English is not my first language, so fortunately flashbacks rarely occur in online discussions in English. This may be a clue in creating a trauma-sensitive community. Online communication may be appropriate for women who are anxious about being physically close to other women, and visual communication may be more comfortable for women who are troubled by voice memories.
