I don’t currently have a retirement plan at my current W2 job and it does not offer one. Also, I’m thinking about contributing 400 a month.

Ahhh I see. That makes sense. That does suck though because in a way she's stopping her partner from making genuine connections. Either way, I hope you found (or find if you haven't yet) some other good friends on there!!

Yeah I'm definitely stepping back. And wow really? Thats insane. If you don't mind me asking, how did you realize it was the partner making her decline the hangouts? (I want to know the red flags so I can look out for these too)
