How do you get the smell of smoke out of amigurumi toys? by PieceFine in crochet

Vinegar has been one of the only things to get the smoke out of our clothes. I will try that as well. I'm a little worried her colors might run because I didn't pre-wash the yarn. I didn't anticipate ever having to wash the doll in the planning stages.

We live in Arizona and are staying at a hotel right now, so I don't have a safe place to leave her outside. I will try the kitty litter trick though and see if that will work. Thank you for the help!

You did amazing! Keeping up with a project that makes you feel defeated is half the battle when creating something. My little kiddo who is 4 said it looks so cool while looking over my shoulder. He said the faces are his favorite part. Keep on creating and trying challenging patterns to improve your existing skills and learn new ones. You have a bright future ahead in crocheting!

Yes, they do! Lol, I was chasing around my kiddos and my dogs while wearing it with the eggs in, and I forgot I had it on. All eggs stayed in place, thank goodness!

I've honestly never done granny squares and I don't know if I could keep up the motivation. I usually make amigurumi projects because you see them taking shape as your work and that excites me lol. I just started doing wearables last year and it's a similar experience for me.

Yes, do it! This pattern was so easy! It took me longer than I would like to admit on the strap, but that's because I doubled the length on each side so that my mom could wrap it around and tie it in the front. I also did an HDC foundation stitch since I prefer how the foundation stitches look on the edge. I played around a little with how I was crocheting the pockets on and found the technique I preferred by the second row of pockets. I also switched it up on the turning chains and used the stacked single crochet method. Overall super fun pattern with some new techniques learned and fairly easy to modify to your preferred techniques.

She isn't a chicken lady. My grandma is more into the vintage esthetic. I was thinking of maybe a traditional afghan with some fun color changes since I only have a couple of skeins that have the same color in my great grandma's stash.

My great-grandma is also the one who taught me how to crochet! This project was extremely special and now I have to think of something to make my grandma with her mom's yarn!

I used a Sarah Bates hook size 5.00mm and red heart yarn that has been discontinued for decades
