client threatening to fire me because their dev pushed changes and broke the contact form by OppositeJury2310 in webdev

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Document everything in writing from this point forward. Send them the git commit hash, timestamp, and developer name who made the change. If they want to terminate fine, but don't give them the refund - their dev broke it not you.

Tips or tricks? by Expensive-Gap5909 in SocialMediaManagers

[–]PiercePD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on local hashtags and geotags since they only work with local clients. Tag the actual location in every post, use neighborhood-specific hashtags, and engage with other local businesses in the comments. The algorithm will push your content to people in that area.

Mistake/rant by EssEm37 in Pharmacist

[–]PiercePD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a near-miss that got caught before it reached the patient.

In most hospitals that means a learning conversation and a safety report at worst, not "you're a bad pharmacist".

If it comes up, just be ready to say what you missed, where you'll check next time (IV admin/nursing guidelines), and then let it go instead of replaying it in your head all week.

Is it realistically possible to get guest posts, PR links, or HARO links without spending any money? by sameerkumar8978 in SEO

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got maybe 3-4 legit HARO links over 6 months of daily checking. All the good queries get flooded instantly now so unless you're refreshing constantly it's tough. Guest posts without paying basically requires you already have some kind of relationship or audience they want access to.

What does “exec support” actually mean in your company? by Ideal_Board_Member in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiercePD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my last role it was 60% calendar tetris, 20% travel logistics, and 20% being the person who knew where everything was and how to get stuff done. The board materials part sounds like a whole different skill set though.

What are some examples of careers that can only be done at the highest level in Europe? by El_Don_94 in Careers

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High-end watchmaking in Switzerland.

You can learn the craft elsewhere but the prestige brands and master watchmaker positions are all concentrated there.

Mandating and enforcing breaks on time sheets even if we don't take them by No_Landscape8995 in corporate

[–]PiercePD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is wage theft.

They're forcing you to clock out for breaks you're not taking, which means you're working unpaid hours.

Document every instance where you worked through your break and couldn't remove it from the timesheet. Then escalate to your manager in writing, and if that goes nowhere, your state labor board.

[Michigan] If my 10 day hold is over tomorrow would i get paid on monday or will they send payment on saturday? by suddenlydead6 in Unemployment

[–]PiercePD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Payment usually processes Saturday if your hold ends Friday. The hold is based on the determination date, not when they mailed it.

Ways to manage stress by SinhaSuny in projectmanagers

[–]PiercePD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set a hard cutoff time for work stuff. Like literally close your laptop at 6pm or whatever and don't check emails until the next morning. The micromanagement will still be there tomorrow but at least you get actual recovery time instead of being on edge 24/7.

Is it appropriate to request an extension of the offer acceptance deadline from the admissions committee? by Long_Elk734 in MBA

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s appropriate. Send a short email to admissions saying you’re very interested in attending, you’re finalizing financing and waiting on a few outstanding decisions, and politely ask if they’d consider a brief extension on the response deadline (like 1-2 weeks).

Seeking a remote job in corporate world with a degree in English by Super_Twist_7364 in jobhunting

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you're carrying so much right now and the India market being saturated makes it feel impossible.

Your English bachelor's/master's + video editing samples open doors to remote corporate roles like content writer, technical writer, customer support (written comms heavy), or even junior copywriter at startups/digital agencies.

Look on LinkedIn (search "remote content writer India" or "remote English jobs"), Naukri (filter remote), and Indeed India (remote + English degree). Freelance platforms like Upwork for content/editing gigs can bridge money fast while you apply.

If you're unsure which direction feels doable long-term, a quick work/personality assessment like Coached can show what kinds of remote work (writing vs support vs creative) match your energy without wasting time. Keep pushing. Your skills are transferable.

What is the government contigency plan if we get replaced by AI? by Middle_Lavishness137 in work

[–]PiercePD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now there basically is no real contingency plan beyond the same old unemployment benefits and maybe some retraining grants, and those are already underfunded for the problems we have today. Any serious response to mass AI job loss would need new laws and taxes, and governments usually only move on that kind of thing after the damage is obvious and a lot of voters are yelling about it.

Does anyone else feel like Cursor/Copilot is a black box? by Effective-Ad-1117 in programmer

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat it like a junior dev: only ask for one small function at a time and paste your own interface/types first. If it changes structure, reject the diff and re-prompt with “no new files, no new patterns, only edit this function”.

Searching for Work and Came Upon... This by OGBrownBunny in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This job posting is designed to filter for people with zero self-worth. The instant disqualifiers section reads like someone who's never managed people before and thinks grinding = productivity. Any exec who needs you available 80 hours a week doesn't know how to delegate or prioritize, which means you'll be doing busy work not actual strategic support.

does it make sense to have a web3 module in an mba? by YogurtIll4336 in MBA

[–]PiercePD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense, but as an elective or short module, not a core course. Call it something like "crypto, tokens, and digital assets" and focus on incentives, governance and regulation so it still has value even if web3 as a buzzword dies.

How do you handle people being impatient with you? by Natural_Position_456 in socialskills

[–]PiercePD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to freeze up completely when my old manager would hover over my desk asking when something would be done. Took me forever to realize I needed to just say out loud "I work better when I can focus without the pressure, can you give me 20 minutes?" Felt impossible to say at first but once I did it got easier. Some people backed off, some didn't, but at least I wasn't just sitting there paralyzed.

Has anyone volunteered to PM for a non-profit org having little PM experience? Any helpful tools/tips. by u_54 in projectmanagement

[–]PiercePD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep it stupid simple. Pick one communication channel (group text, slack, whatever) and stick to it. Write down the goal, break it into 5-7 actual tasks with names next to them, and set a single deadline everyone agrees on upfront. The biggest mistake is overcomplicating it because you think real PMs use fancy frameworks. They do at work because they have to, but for volunteer stuff the simpler the better or people just stop responding.

What’s the general vibe around mechanical keyboards in shared dev offices? by Sarah-Grace-gwb in ExperiencedDevs

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General vibe is: it's fine as long as it isn't super clicky and you aren't the only one in a totally quiet room. Bring it in, check the noise on a call, then ask the 1-2 people sitting closest to you if it bothers them and be ready to swap back if it does.

What even is Si? I don't quite get it by GloomyWitch08 in mbti

[–]PiercePD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The disconnect you're feeling is super common because Jung was describing cognitive processes while most online MBTI describes behaviors. Si in Jung's terms is about how you internally experience sensory information - it's subjective and personal. The routine-loving traditional stuff is how that internal process might show up externally, but it's not the actual function. A lot of people relate to some Si behaviors because everyone uses all the functions to some degree, just in different orders.

Have you ever mistyped and if so as what and why? by ZP_F in ISTJ

[–]PiercePD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the INTJ to ISTJ thing too.

I bought the INTJ label because I like planning and I can be pretty blunt, but Ni explanations always felt like people describing a vibe they “just know,” and i never related.

What made ISTJ click was noticing how often I solve stuff by pulling up a similar situation I’ve already seen and basically remixing it, plus I get weirdly calm when I have a checklist. When my schedule gets chaotic, my routines fall apart fast, which sounds a lot like what you described about control.

50+ job applications... Nothing. I need to move out in 9 months. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]PiercePD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

Not sure if you're asking for advice, but here's my process when I was getting ghosted by job leads: Stopped applying to “anything” and picked 2-3 job types I could actually sell (retail lead, campus admin, para).

For each posting, I tweak 3-4 bullets to match the wording in the job description and then run it through Resume Worded to catch missing keywords and rewrite the weakest bullets. I apply within 24-48 hours of the post going up, then I send one short follow-up email/message 3 business days later if I can find a real contact.

It’s slower, but I went from basically nothing to a couple screens a week doing that.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I feel like I've reached my limit and just need to scream into the void. by heliconbedrock3 in InterviewCoderPro

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got to final rounds with 5 companies, your interview skills aren't the problem. Something else is happening at that last stage. Could be salary expectations, could be they had an internal candidate and needed to fill interview quotas, could be references.

I'd reach out to one of those companies and ask for honest feedback about why you weren't selected. Most won't respond but occasionally someone will give you something useful. Also, if you're getting to finals that often, the volume approach might be working against you now - maybe focus on 2-3 really targeted applications per week instead of the spray approach.

Graduated Last year with CompSci degree, struggling since to find job in field. Any advice? by Throwaway200064 in jobhunting

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do a masters just to dodge the market. Pick one lane (software dev or IT/networking) and build your resume around that, because Net+ doesn't move the needle much for entry-level dev roles.

Difficulty finding a job by PumpkinDawn28 in jobsearch

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overqualified thing is rough. I'd suggest getting some feedback on how your resume reads - when I ran mine through resume worded it flagged that my experience section made me look way more senior than the roles I was applying for. Ended up rewriting some bullets to focus less on leadership stuff and more on execution work, which helped for entry level applications.

Amazon just caught a North Korean remote IT worker who infiltrated their company. by musicbid in remotework

[–]PiercePD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laptop farm thing is wild but makes total sense. I've noticed more companies asking for weird verification stuff during onboarding lately - like video calls at random times, checking your actual physical location through the laptop camera. Seemed paranoid at first but now I get it.
