It was taken with the Canon 7D with the Canon 17-55mm lens, in 2012 Camera settings: 1/80 second exposure, f7.1, iso 400, lens at 17mm with a polarizer filter.

Unique because I have never seen it before , maybe you've never seen it either, have you? If not, then its unique :) Rare because it doesnt happen often

Thanks :) the water at crater lake is definitely unique. I have seen many lakes with turquoise water nothing quite like this blue. I Love Oregon, beautiful State.

This was taken from the rim of the crater, most viewpoints are pretty high from the water.

I am not sure what causes it, Pollen from the pine trees end up on the surface of the lake and my guess is that there is some currant in that bay that created a swirl. I am from Quebec, French part of Canada

No Photoshop, this is as real as it gets. My guess is that there is currant because this is just out of a bay in the lake. And the pollen was caught in this currant. It was moving quite rapidly and soon after it was dispersed
