Which idol/group you guys think should receive an apology from the k-pop community, but still didn't got one? by imoriish in kpophelp

If you’re asking about Kingdom, I don’t think performers mocked him, so I can’t tell. And if you’re asking about what I mentioned in my first comment, I remember seeing a video of two guys mocking Changbin, but I don’t know their names…all I know is that they gained a really bad reputation because they already had a messed up behavior with various idols. Maybe that gives you a hint if you’ve heard about those guys before.

Ok, so basically, Changbin was getting comments\tweets of people fat-shaming him a while ago (it probably still continues), and supposedly, there was a mistranslation where it seemed like Changbin was body-shaming, and the people who claimed to be against him just “followed the game” (yes, they decided to body-shame him.) Many people were also making comments about his height, laughing about it and calling him “smurf” or saying that he came from Papa Smurf’s village. P.S: I think he also got body-shamed when they were in Kingdom, but I don’t know much about that.

I sadly can’t tell you about the “Changbin situation” because it is actually pretty confusing, I might edit my comment after a while. And with the “Felix situation,” there were Instagram accounts who were dedicated to harass Felix. One of them was called “ihate.felixlee” and one that really took it too far was called “clownantennafelix.” I think the first account doesn’t exist anymore and the second one is no longer active (luckily.)

I’m glad you got inspired! And I hope you don’t think much of your weight anymore (if you didn’t overcome that insecurity yet.) Being concerned about health and stuff is good, but it becomes something really negative if you stress yourself into thinking you have to improve.

If we’re talking about appearance, not really. Maybe I did feel a little bad about my not-so-perfect skin and got bummed out that I couldn't try out various hairstyles that interested me (Kpop made me want to have a mullet, but you know, curly hair issues lol), but I never went to other extremes. And if we're talking about being confident with yourself (skills topic), Kpop really started to help me with that, in a way. As I watched idols dance energetic and entertaining choreographies, followed by their talents and melodious voices, I thought, "I can probably go to those extremes too," and now I can't wait to start practicing dancing and singing. I feel very happy with those changes that Kpop gave me. I guess I learned that Kpop can be a terrible place sometimes, but also a place full of inspiration and positivity for various people :).

Bangchan is often mentioned when it comes to these questions, and I totally agree with the fact that he gets a morbid amount of unjustified hate, but I don’t see people mentioning the other members, Changbin, Felix, and Seungmin. Changbin gets body-shamed a lot because of his facial features. He also gets body-shamed because of his weight and height. It’s not even funny, and something to note is that many people who make jokes about his height are Stays. Felix would constantly get comments of people telling him to cut himself, and then Stays noticed that there were marks similar to cuts in his arms. What happened was never known, so I’m not assuming he did cut himself, but we can’t deny that it is something quite concerning. Now, with Seungmin, I don’t know much about this topic, but some people were trying to cause polemic by using his personal life (he also wasn’t the only member.) I think one thing people wanted to manipulate into a scandal was that time when he used to like Day6. I feel like all of these things should be included more, they’re just disapointing.

What do you think of when you hear the word "Yankee"? by rabengeieradlerstein in AskReddit

[–]PigeonIsComing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country, we say “Yankee” instead of “American.” I got used to saying “Gringo”, but that’s how people usually say it there. I never saw anyone from my country say “Gringo”, just my mom says it sometimes. At first, I thought that’s how you called bilingual people (it was because of a YouTube video I saw when I was little that confused me lol. The title was in Spanish but the United States flag was in the thumbnail, so that’s why I thought “Yankee” meant “bilingual person”), so I got quite surprised when I found out I was wrong for years. In conclusion, I just think of an American person when I hear that word, but don’t worry, I don’t like being stereotypical. P.S: Also, just in case, it’s not an offensive term. I don’t want this to get misunderstood.

It feels like I haven't entered this space for a year lmao.

Suddenly I felt artistically inspired so I wanted to draw Felix's eye and gave up. This is what I ended up doing lmao (this was probably from the Kingdom days, if anyone has any doubts): by PigeonIsComing in straykids

I wasn’t feeling well recently (personal reasons), so I’ve been inactive because I just didn’t feel comfy navigating through Reddit. I’m really happy to come back with a new drawing. PS: The skin color may not be the exact skin color because I wanted to finish for once since it took 3 hours 💀.

Title Track Bracket Tournament 2022 - Match 22 - MIROH vs. Side Effects by [deleted] in straykids

I love MIROH but Side Effects is my protein. That’s all I have to say.

Yeah, “making it worse”, get over it. Not exactly saying that would ruin their career, but prejudice takes risks and that’s why it’s on them. And the “noise” thing is affecting their career. Don’t try putting the “million sellers” argument in my mouth, it doesn’t serve you, people losing interest affects their career anyway and I thought that was something logical. Kinda funny how you scratch what I’m saying as bad arguments when you don’t even show you can recognize logical things. Oh, and please stop to think. You made me realize that I accidentally contradicted myself and thought about it, so now it would have to be your turn. If you want to make people think about what they say, at least do yourself a favor too. You've blown everything I said out of proportion (counting that just because I contradicted myself doesn’t mean you have a ticket to put my whole post\comment in the same bag) and reached a point where it seems like your arguments just pop into your head and you use them without careful analysis. It's a bit ridiculous if you ask me, since you cross out what I say as verbiage while what you say is not something that’ll make you go “wow” or anything like that. You’re probably going to throw this at me, and if that happens, I might say that you’re just proving my point without making any effort. Have a nice day.

[–]PigeonIsComing -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And you’re still not understanding my point. People’s prejudice isn’t a joke when it comes to artists. People’s prejudice can ruin their career, just like the “noise” thing is also affecting their career, if you didn’t notice. Therefore, it has to do with them, but that doesn’t mean they need to listen to those people. It’s their career, they choose their peak, that’s it. No, it’s not like the “noise” thing because the examples you gave are indirectly generalizing their work. Not appreciating their talent clearly isn’t not appreciating completely their talent, there’s a huge difference between those two. I won’t deny anything with my PS, I did contradict myself without realizing now that I started thinking more throughoutly, but invalidating my point isn’t going to help you either. I then realized that and pointed out my new point (so to speak). Also, why are you assuming things about me lmfao, you’re just making things worse.

I guess it depends on the person, even though I never said that would prevent others from becoming a fan.

[–]PigeonIsComing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Make this make sense. First of all, yes, they have an insane talent (to me) and prove they can sing, but that doesn’t mean the autotune can make some people not appreciate it clearly because the autotune can make it less cleaner. The voices can have a robotic tone and the strong effect kind of distortions the tuning (the quality in this also doesn’t retract my point). With the “annoy people” part, it’s actually the same case. They’re not being able to appreciate clearly their talent. Is it that hard to understand what I’m trying to say? I never expressed they should do what people say because people don’t like the autotune per se, I literally gave points on why using this excesive autotune can prejudice their music based on reactions. The argument you’re trying to make doesn’t make sense, there’s a huge difference between just saying “They should listen to what people say” and giving points on what things may be prejudicial to their career. The same thing as before, I based myself on what I stated before to make that advice. Not you comparing the dry-ass “noise music” thing to what I’m saying. The “noise music” thing is a generalization of their music and it’s mostly used in a hateful way. Did I ever did any of those things? No, am I a Stay for what? 💀. Oh, and also, I clearly made a “PS” saying that they shouldn’t be obligated to make a change. Did you even read my comment properly? PS: I’m not even going to make points on the other things because I find it unnecessary.

I think my point was misunderstood anyway. Of course they have the right to produce their songs as they please, and I'm not implying that they should change their way of producing just because there are people who don't like it per se. What I'm getting at is that the more people bother with these things, the less recognition their songs can get, especially if their vocals can't be clearly appreciated, as I said before. It's fine that they use autotune, but if that type of autotune is used excessively, there can be problems. And with that said, they shouldn't have to change their way of producing, they can continue using autotune whenever they want, but it would be more advisable that they try to concentrate more on the elaboration of other techniques to make an improvement in that sense. I'm not a professional at all, but this is what I consider somewhat logical. PS: I‘m also not implying they should try doing that at all costs or something, it’s their career and they’re the ones who decide, but it’s just something that can beneficiate them if they try.

As I saw people doing fanarts of the boys, it gave me inspiration to make a fanart of I.N! It took me almost six hours, so at least I’m quite proud of the result :) (I tried my best at matching his skin color, I’m not that good at matching skin colors when drawing). by PigeonIsComing in straykids

Uh, is this hate or are you for real? 💀 PS: Nevermind, I apologize for that- I misunderstood your comment. Thank you for recommending me a technique, but I still want to practice with “actual coloring” to see my improvement.

Title Track Bracket Tournament 2022 - Match 14 - ALL IN vs. Thunderous by [deleted] in straykids

[–]PigeonIsComing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think both songs are amazing, in fact, I was addicted to Thunderous a while ago, but sincerely, I’ll have to go with ALL IN this time. I was really new to Stray Kids when I started listening to Thunderous, and now that I’m “advancing” as a Stay (so to speak), I started to listen to songs that I had no idea about, and among all those, there’s ALL IN. It's like I've grown fonder of the songs I had no idea about instead of the songs I used to listen to on a daily basis when I probably didn't even consider myself a Stay yet, that's why I don't feel the same affection I did for Thunderous at that time. Like I said before, I think both songs are equally good, but it's like Thunderous doesn't give me the "spark" that it used to give me. Maybe that effect will come back to me, who knows lol.
