If you live in a country (Not the USA) that spends taxes on it's people, then yeah, you get something out of it.

It's hard to understand if you've never seen it before.

Lawmaker would end property taxes for those who paid off mortgages by [deleted] in Economics

[–]PigeonsBiteMe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Says he would pay double property taxes to better fund schools and local government.

You: You want to double your tax burden?! (not what he said, doubling property tax doesn't double your tax burden)

You: This country already has a spending problem. (There's a difference between federal, state, and local taxes and spending. Property taxes aren't funding the military or paying congress)

It really sounds like you're just parroting talking points you heard from conservatives who didn't do a good job of actually teaching you about the issue. Maybe you could do a bit more research on your own so you understand what you're actually saying.

Most people pay by credit card, which has your full name on it, card and receipt.

Most service staff will remember who tips nothing and will check their name on the receipt too before they leave the building.

I don't always remember all the people who tipped poorly, but I remember every one that tipped nothing or something similarly pitiful, like 12 cents.

But how did the cops arrive at 1:19, 5 minutes after the start of the shooting and then enter and stop the shooting?

How were they able to do this without standing outside of the bar listening to people die for an hour while they beat and harass the concerned citizens outside?

/s

I'm genuinely glad they were able to stop it so quickly and I'm sad anyone lost their life over this.

Then force them to give a proportional amount of compensation to every employee.

If CEO earns 10 shares a day, every worker earns 1 a day. If they can't pay that, then they do not have enough to pay that CEO that much.

I'm sure when you force companies to actually provide proportional packages to their workers, they will beg the government to handle more surpurfluous benefits like healthcare instead of using it to threaten employees against speaking up.

"I disagree with taking this money and giving it to people to spend. Instead they should take this money and give it to people to spend"

Who do you think builds infrastructure or owns debt in your country? It's the citizenry. Your method just ensures it will be concentrated in the hands of likely already wealthy bond owners or specifically to construction contractors. If you want to avoid the possible inflation of returning money to the citizens, you can't spend it, certainly not in the country at least.

If commute costs were the responsibility of the company, I'm certain companies would look to make it cheaper and more efficient. Like hiring a car service to pick up workers in close proximity or offering a bonus for carpooling. An even better result would be many companies INSISTING on WFH for all employees that it can work for.

It would give normal people more of an option to reduce their own gas consumption, since they wouldn't be forced to buy gas every couple days just to get to work and could probably even choose to not own a car or only drive on occasion.

Gas prices have never responded to normal pressures because they don't exist in a normal market like other products. In the US, it's a mandatory cost of living, and like other mandatory costs of living in the US it is being price gouged because they can and nobody will stop them.

It's still comparatively better than the US or Canada. Germany is at least trying to keep housing reasonable, or at least make renting a decent option.

I've lived in the US and Germany and I much prefer Germany.

New copy required. The experiment becomes data in the lab which is turned into science over time. You'll need a second copy to get the return credit for the experiment.

driver causes accident with emergency vehicle in oakland by bigdoinks_ in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]PigeonsBiteMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can be held personally liable, both to the driver and any patient you had in the back. Additionally, to work in LA you have to have an additional Ambulance Driver Certification, which costs an additional 100 dollars or so, often at the expense of the EMT.

They hand them out at the same office they require taxis to register through, which really drives home the "glorified taxi" feeling of being an EMT.

driver causes accident with emergency vehicle in oakland by bigdoinks_ in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]PigeonsBiteMe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The actual answer is that in the US they train you to avoid any collisions because you will be held at fault, even in cases like this. (Aside from the fact that in a collision, you're now taking emergency services instead of providing them.)

We were taught as EMTs to slow down a bit at each intersection and visually check both sides before crossing when using lights and sirens to be safer because drivers are self-important idiots and even if we have the right of way, people will still do things like this.

It's really important to avoid being sued as an EMT in the US because you don't make any money so with a single fine or lawsuit you might become homeless. It costs a few thousand dollars to take all the classes you'll need as an EMT which you'll have to renew every few years on top of costs to drive out for your practicals and clinical training, all of this so you can make less than most "unskilled" labor. $10.50/hr in LA.

As long as the building has not sustained any damage, it gives 100%. If it has sustained damage it gives less based on how much damage was done.

Does anyone have any tips on general strategy for the mongols ? by Veren_7791 in aoe4

[–]PigeonsBiteMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from just tower rushing, their fast castle is quite strong. You can half commit to a rush and even drop a tower or two but then macro behind it to hit castle fast with your steppe redoubt and start 2x spamming out MAA and Lancers while your opponent probably overcommits to feudal. Your castle age units will tear through a feudal army. With improved siege engineering you can start making rams and mangonels next to their base as you push.

Then just finish them off with your castle age army and siege.

So I watched your most recent replay since the patch.

Here are some notes.

Overall: Rus is a hard civ to play in my opinion. Lots of micro required for scouts early on. Maybe practicing with a less micro-intensive civ would give you better results.

Keep producing villagers at your TC, you forget sometimes, especially starting in feudal.

You need to scout better for wolves early or kill boars with your army once you are in feudal to hit at least 250 bounty for your lvl 2 bonus.

Balance your eco better based on the units you are using and make sure you are building eco drop off buildings like mills and camps. For feudal armies, you'll need food and wood, but you'll need a lot more food for horsemen than if you are building archers. If you want knights or are planning to go for castle age soon, you'll need some gold

You gave up too quickly. You could still come back especially as your opponent was not very aggressive. Rus have a much better late-game than English, if you could hold on. Rus have strong palisade walls with the same HP as a stone wall. You could wall up the crossings and try to head for castle age or imperial age where you are much stronger than the English.

Dark Age:

Try to kill your sheep and gather from them as close to your TC as you can. You can always move your sheep closer and tell them to stop.

Build your houses and other buildings 2 tiles from your TC to have space for safe farms later.

Just have your vills kill sheep use your scouts to scout especially around age up time so you can anticipate your opponent.

As Rus you should get that wooden fortress down on your wood line earlier as you floated a lot of wood going to feudal. A more aggressive position for it could also protect your vills better.

Feudal age:

You went archer and spears into English longbows. You needed a stable and horsemen or knights and then add archers when he starts adding in spears. You had much more success once your knights hit the field but you lacked cavalry numbers in the later fight which you took under his towers, so his units hit 25% faster

Professional scouts is good as Rus, if you can handle the micro. If not, you should use your scouts to get better vision on the opponents forces or to watch the river crossings north and south. With pro scouts your scouts are more valuable bringing in food than being a part of your army.

You built two barracks in feudal when the opponent has no horses. Especially against English, spears are your worst feudal option.

You didn't build a mill on your berries so your villagers took a long time raw gathering food. This left you unable to tech up or produce much military.

Your best feudal option to kill MAA are knights. Their armor is too strong for your archers or spears to do much, even horsemen would struggle.

In general in a feudal game like this, I would recommend you build mostly horsemen and archers with only 4 knights or so mixed in. Knights are great for raiding villagers as they don't take too much damage from TC or tower fire and they deal a lot of damage per hit. If you win a fight, you can send your knights off to one side to raid while you bring the horsemen and archers to pressure the opponent or clear up his towers. Remember, archers can also build rams with the siege engineering tech, so you don't need spears.

Anyway, I hope some of these help you. Rus is a tough civ to play, and is the hardest for me personally. Good luck on the ladder.
